Pros

The company once was amazing. In the past few years moral has plummeted, leadership failed us and the company is no longer somewhere you want to invest your time as an employee. They will treat you as a number. I’ve watched leadership push some of the best employees out the door after investing almost their whole career here. Lesson learned. You won’t be valued for doing a job well done. Only valued if you make the least at your level as to not take away salary increases from leadership.

Cons

Poor management. Low company morale. Overall a toxic work environment

Pros

You get to wear many hats and there's never a shortage of the amount of work you can do. Company is located downtown, coworkers can be very cool people to work with

Cons

Future direction under new leadership uncertain. Benefits are not good. Health insurance is a high deductible plan so plan to pay out ~$3k before anything will be covered. Leadership can be confrontational and will give you negative feedback in front of customers. Lots of micro managing, especially when it comes to time logging. Extremely high turnover rate for a company with 50 employees. Ask how many employees they have lost this year alone since bringing on the new president. Favoritism is blatant. Not a lot of perks, they now ration snacks for example, "not to be a substitute for your lunch". They advertise 9-80 schedules but actively discourage it. HR and leadership can be duplicitous. Morale is at an all time low and many still there are looking to leave as soon as they can. The air is tense and negative, this is no longer the innovative, fun company that I knew. Some folks are extremely underpaid compared to market value while others get inflated salaries for doing not much. You will have to fight for salary increases, PTO, and there's not much room for growth as a regular rank and file employee. Tons of change has occurred under the new regime and let's just say you should read the writing on the wall if you decide to interview and work here. Be aware that HR's responses to these reviews are not the full picture - they are the single "employee testimonial" on their website - ask yourself why that is.

Pros

In my opinion; These are just a few of the “pros.” The company store offers snacks at cost. 20% of the people do 80% of the work. The company is not what it once was. New owner, new management, almost all of the senior employees with years of experience have been ran off due to the erratic manner in which the organization operates. Most of the new employees lack the educational background that was once required. Opportunities for advancement are limited due to the infrastructure used to rate employees. Misplaced goals (like winning business awards) having nothing to do with what directly relates to the workplace seem to take priority over getting accurate performance reviews and merit raises in a timely manner. The layers of management often outnumber the actual count of the persons doing the work.

Cons

The company has almost every negative review that has put on this site removed. This one will probably get pulled down as well. But, I will give an example of a "con" here. The helpless feeling you have on a startup knowing very little about the project when the person who actually programmed it is no longer with the company to help commission it while the customer is standing directly behind you for a 10 day wondering why the system isn’t running yet etc.

TEC Systems Group Response

Dear Former TEC Employee, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I’m sorry that your experience at TEC left you with such negative feelings. However, based on the nature of your comments, it seems that quite a bit of time has passed since you were part of the team—likely several years, if not more. TEC has undergone significant changes over the past few years, including shifts in leadership, structure, and culture. Like any organization, growth can come with challenges, but we’ve worked hard to adapt, improve, and create an environment that supports both our employees and our customers. While I understand that change isn’t always easy, I assure you that our focus remains on delivering high-quality solutions and fostering a positive workplace. Employee retention, performance evaluations, and transparent communication are top priorities for us today. We’ve also made efforts to expand opportunities for employee development and advancement. We regret that your time with TEC did not reflect the positive direction we are now striving for. Your feedback, though from a past perspective, is valuable and serves as a reminder of where we have come from and what we continue to improve. I truly wish you the best in your future endeavors and hope you can find closure regarding your time here. We welcome constructive feedback from both current and former employees as part of our ongoing effort to grow and evolve. Sincerely, Jessica Ziegler HR Director TEC Systems Group
