Average Pay, Great Benefits and Culture

Pros

The benefits package at TKDA is truly solid. As an ESOP organization, every employee receives shares of company stock. This is a nice investment option, in addition to a 401k package and healthy bonus plans, that also helps create a sense of personal ownership in your work at the company. The culture is friendly and inviting and a real sense of belonging is easy to acquire while at the company. There is a great wellness program in place with a calendar full of events to encourage happy/healthy lifestyles, an annual picnic and 5k, and year end holiday parties as well. There are also lunch events centered on training, charitable outreach programs, and other events. Another great aspect is the openness of management. All employees have access to detailed company performance and an open door policy means there is always an opportunity to share ideas and concerns. Overall, TKDA is a great environment to be in.

Cons

The type of engineering and architectural design work done by the firm isn't as big or exciting as could be found in other firms. Also, depending on the department you work in, promotions can sometimes be very hard to come by, despite a track record for doing good work. Part of this is due to low turnover. Many who are hired at TKDA stay on for a long time if not their entire career and mid-senior positions turn only slowly. This is especially true of the small marketing department where promotions are virtually non-existent. Also, not a true con, but the pace to office life at TKDA is rather slow. The plus is that this creates a relaxed environment but the minus is that there is little sense of urgency or excitement.

Pros

Employee Stock Ownership Program company

Cons

Not progressive or diverse. HR lacks trust of employees. Not willing to listen to employees when valid concerns are brought forward. Seems to be stuck in the 1980s way of working in the office. Toxic environment if you are female.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We appreciate reviews of our performance when we are doing things right as well as ideas for improvement. At TKDA, we take employee concerns seriously, and we do offer several options for employees to provide constructive feedback with the goal of enhancing our firm’s culture. In addition to contacting our HR Division, employees can also submit concerns anonymously through the RAVE Guardian app, which are then directed to the appropriate division leader for further discussion and solutions. Employees are also invited to submit questions in advance of our Leadership Lunches, led by our CEO, during which he will address questions and concerns directly.
