Pros
Good pay and benefits, name recognition, newsroom experience and free food. There aren’t very many pros to working here really.
Cons
Heed the warnings, don’t let the fact that TMZ is well known lure you into taking a job here, because you will quickly regret it. If you do, forget about any self respect you think you have for yourself. You will be yelled at and constantly belittled over frivolous things in front of your co workers. Management will never take any responsibility or have your back and their mistakes will get blamed on you. They will never tell you how to do the job, and if you ask questions they will make you feel really small. They will just tell you to use your best judgement. Therefore, when you try and use your best judgement on a task and they don’t like how it’s done, be prepared to get screamed at. It’s always a lose a lose situation. A double edged sword one might say. You can never win or please anyone here. You will end up feeling mentally and physically drained in a matter of weeks. 10.5 hour days are a minimum. 6am call time. Most people that take a job here usually don’t end up staying long. You WILL walk into work everyday asking yourself how you will survive through the day because basically that’s all this job really is... learning how to survive each day. If you value yourself and your intelligence, don’t work here. You will just end up becoming Harvey Levin’s puppet on a string.
