Pros

People are lovely and always willing to help, working together is highly prioritised.

Cons

They are still invested in 8-5 working hours when flexible hours could be better for a company that works mainly online

Great People but Questionable Leadership

Pros

The people that work there are amazing and dedicated to bringing education solutions to anyone who needs it. The work culture was great and since it was a small team, there was lots of crossover with teams and and socialising. The office also closed when schools did in December which was amazing for spending time with family in the holiday season.

Cons

The CEO. There is much I could say about him but I'll keep it brief and mention that he is idea driven rather than business driven. While I was at the company, he essentially dropped Teach Me 2 to work on another project (which I won't mention here), when Teach Me 2 was in dire need of leadership. He works well as the ideas and innovation man, but there needs to be someone dedicated to Teach Me 2 and its employees in charge.

Pros

You get to meet amazing people who become lifelong friends, learn new things and have experiences.

Cons

- The management staff (including the founder/CEO) is incredibly young, naive, and inexperienced. They don't manage, delegate or lead this company well. - There is too much focus on making money for the 'next big thing' (i.e. mentors, specialist tutoring, marking) before the base concept (high school tutoring) is perfected and stable. This has led to many issues with new ventures. - The pay is incredibly poor, and the wage gap between departments (especially since certain employees are completely undeserving of their pay in reference to workload, performance, and effort) is astronomical. - There are limited opportunities for advancement, and even then, they are given to the inner circle, who will continue to push management's agenda. - There is no sense of real care about education or the future of learners in South Africa. There were mentions of giving back to the community in early stages, but never again did we hear or see any attempts at CSR. - There is no real HR or accountability, which has lead to issues in the workplace being dealt with poorly. - Work life balance is not great for those in certain departments. - Internal training/onboarding is minimal and poor, leaving other employees to pick up the slack.
