Pros

Exciting work and lots of responsibility. Incredibly talented engineering team.

Cons

Extreme pressure from CEO. As a project manager I was told if I could not perform unrealistic tasks and timelines - myself and the team would be going home without jobs. As a project engineer and manager I was expected to work 60+ hour weeks without compensation. Very high turnover rate, general lack of confidence in management by employees and customers. Nepotism is very bad. The only positive review on this page is from the CEOs son who was given an upper management job and received a large bonus when the company was near bankrupt. Many engineers did not get paid out promised overtime. During this time the CEO purchased a brand new Tesla and tried to keep it under wraps. Bad reputation. You will not find a legitimate positive reference (employee, customer, or distributor) in the past 5 years. I grew tired of explaining to friends and others why I was working at this place. Breach of professional engineering practice and code of ethics. I was pressured into tapping my cell phone and trying to get a customer to admit fault. This was a customer who was left hanging because of poor scoping and execution by management and deserved to be treated better. Constantly on the verge of bankruptcy. Engineering decisions are often overruled by CEO without explanation and the outcome is detrimental to projects.

Pros

-Excellent coworkers -Friendly atmosphere -Interesting work -Tremendous learning opportunity

Cons

-Legally Questionable Management -No overtime, but some employees have hundreds of banked hours. -I relocated and had a $2000 relocation allowance with all of my expenses reviewed and approved on. After 10 months, changing my number, registering my car/insurance/bank/etc in B.C. I was still kept on probation and finally deducted half of my previously approved relocation expenses from my after tax income all because the Family I had just spent 10 months away from hadn't relocated. -Unreasonable timeline expectations in order to win quotes eventually lead to very tense yelling/scolding sessions.

Pros

You may well obtain skills for production line industry using lasers and cameras or develop some prototype fabrication/modeling capabilities. This could be transferable to other jobs and assembly line corporations but not in my case. Good place if you want to apply SolidWorks 3D modeling or Visual Studio C++ programming to Ethernet data communications and controls.

Cons

I was told that I would be developing prototypes which never happened. Application of my skills is not well appreciated. Uncompensated overtime is expected. Insane schedule to meet task milestones and goals. Your movements are constantly monitored. Management can be overbearing and condescending. Accomplishments disregarded and faults underscored. Do not expect a supportive letter of recommendation. I wrote one for a co-op student since management did not provide. Demeaning corporate culture (nothing is what it seems) and sweatshop environment. Not entering this work experience in my resume.
