Pros

The amazing children, and families. I’ve also created some great connections with previous coworkers.

Cons

Working at Tessellations has presented challenges due to a pervasive toxic work culture that impacts employee morale and productivity. The environment fosters a sense of unease, with employees feeling as though their efforts are undervalued and precarious. Unfortunately, the company prioritizes cost-cutting measures over fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace atmosphere. At Tessellations, there is a concerning emphasis on competition rather than collaboration, perpetuated by senior leadership, which can lead to a sense of isolation and distrust among colleagues. Instances of bullying and favoritism further exacerbate the negative atmosphere, creating barriers to professional growth and development. Communication breakdowns and unfulfilled promises from management contribute to a sense of disillusionment among employees. The lack of transparency and accountability only serve to deepen existing tensions within the workplace. Overall, the working environment at Tessellations is characterized by passive-aggressive behavior and a lack of concern for employee well-being. While the company may prioritize its financial bottom line, it comes at the expense of employee satisfaction and mental health. There is a clear need for systemic changes to address these issues and create a more positive and supportive workplace culture.

Great Idea, Poor Execution, Disappointing Fallout.

Pros

The kids are amazing, and there are educators that believe in what the school was originally founded for. Salary and benefits at the beginning. Raises are not up to par, so less of a pro as time goes on

Cons

1. Administrators prioritize marketing over education. Many programs do not improve the educational experience, are actively talked down upon by a majority of students and staff, yet are kept to make the school look good. 2. Administrators frequently make promises of promotion for the same position to multiple people. Jobs, promotions, and salaries are actually given based on favoritism and nepotism, not skillset. Those whose promises have been broken are given additionally responsibilities without compensation nor title. 3. Job security is dependent on favoritism. Mass firings without warning. 4. Staff absence is exceptionally high, and administration does not react timely nor appropriately. 5. Giftedness always comes second, unless it is placed third, or fourth. Administrators primary focus is on whether the curriculum is politically progressive enough and marketable enough to prospective families. 6. Administrator support is inconsistent and highly contingent on the subject matter. They actively disregard issues in subjects that they are not confident in.

Pros

Simply the kids. The only people worth staying at the school for are the kids. They are incredible to work with and making connections with them is incredible fulfilling.

Cons

The school as a whole is lost and has no sense of direction. They let go of experts who have experience in school settings because other admin with zero background in education don’t like them. Job security doesn’t exist and they are constantly laying off staff “due to no fault of their own” due to financial challenges, so they say. They won’t hesitate to do lay offs any time, even mid school year. Lastly, admin is heavily influenced by a select few toxic teachers. These teachers view themselves as the “golden” teachers and have even gone as far as getting staff fired just because they in particular don’t like the staff member. They don’t take feedback well and speak horribly about students and coworkers. Their behavior is honestly foul.
