Pros

I haven't come across any toxic coworkers or managers so far - it speaks to the culture of the organisation, but it seems case by case per team Very horizontal/ democratic work structure (without hierarchy)

Cons

Despite being a global organization, it lacks structure and processes to efficiently work with other offices (ex. global, regional, country office), which leads to severe inefficiencies

Pros

Fun, open, collaborative environment and interesting work make this a great place to work. Smart, motivated coworkers and a "we take care of our own" approach to doing things.

Cons

At its core, it's a huge company with thousands of employees in a ton of different countries, so there can be associated pains if you're used to working in a much smaller company.

Pros

Amazing work location and opportunity to build something out of nothing with great support from the state office.

Cons

The person to whom I directly reported was the son of a conservation big whig in D.C. and was completely incompetent. This person had no former experience with Western culture, wildlife, or ranching and was given a mid-level position after working one season in the position for which I was hired. This person additionally treated the preserve quarters as his personal weekend getaway for him and his girlfriend. They would get stoned and go birdwatching while things needed serious repair and decision-making. Threatened by the highly motivated and task-oriented team we had on board, this individual made attempts to mask our success to the state office. In spite of the glaring lack of qualification for this person to be promoted in any way, shape, or form, he was promoted yet again. It was truly disheartening to witness and made me not want to work in conservation again.
