Pros

Some of the people who worked there while I was there were great, but they are all long gone

Cons

* Leadership team has no idea what they are doing and run a toxic, political culture that doesn't promote the best ideas, just the ones the CEO likes * No cohesive direction for the product and company * As a result of all of the above, employees are not bought in and there's a lot of turnover

Pros

- After several years in development, the culture and values at Trim are better than you will find in most early-stage startups. - The company is still very much in a “move fast and break things” mentality, which can be exciting as an engineer to move very quickly. - The office is in a great location.

Cons

- Little to no vision or cohesion driving the product. What started as a subscription-cancelling SMS bot turned into a Comcast-negotiating Chrome extension turned into a debt payoff subscription. There is no leadership about what Trim should do or be; it is left as an exercise to the engineering team, which is not prepared, trained, or supported to handle that part of the business. - What started as an open, honest workplace has become deceptive to its employees, its investors, and its users. Perhaps transparency is a luxury only successful startups can afford. - With the exception of the Growth/Marketing department, the leadership at Trim is inexperienced, and it shows. The process of prioritization is flighty and changes constantly; there is little to no agreement or consensus about what should be done, and a lot of work is wasted. - Lastly, this is not a “tech” company. It is a tech-assisted contractor-management company. Claims that it is using AI/Machine Learning are completely fabricated. Engineers who want to grow and learn about interesting and stimulating parts of the industry should look elsewhere; there is very little exciting proprietary tech to be had at Trim.

Pros

- Very talented, tight-knit group of people who work very hard and are proactive about getting things done - lots of opportunities to grow and wear many hats - mission driven to really make personal finance access to all - healthy work/life balance with many fun team bonding events

Cons

- very young team - not enough people to tackle all the work that needs to be done -communication can be more open and direct
