Company Culture is Changing

New office space in Herndon, VA & great benefits.

The two Partners have recently stepped back from leadership and the company is now run by Army General who has a command and control leadership style that is typical of former military. The Partners were originally leading the company with a respectful participative leadership style, which is needed in a high-tech environment. Over the course of the last 6 months the company has changes tremendously. Majority of the leadership team has left the company to include most of the VP's, Program Managers, and HR Director. They have been replaced by mostly white males with your typical military background - people that the General can relate to. TrueTandem was once a great diverse company to work for, but the General does not understand that you cannot lead the high-tech industry like you lead the troops. The people that work in this industry are professional and skilled workers who are a hot commodity. If you treat them badly, they will go elsewhere.

The blind leading the blind...

Pros

The company HAD a great, employee focused, culture prior to 2016-- resulting in roughly a 99% employee retention rate year to year.

Cons

In a move to take the company to the so called next level, the partners brought in an outside Strategic Planning consultant that was ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS about how to run a small, agile boutique consulting practice focused on Microsoft technologies. Soon after bringing in this so called consultant, the corporate culture began to shift from a decentralized / flat and employee-centric environment to something just short of miserable. TrueTandem, in the opinion of this former employee, has lost its way. What made the company a beacon for attracting the top Microsoft technical talent in the world is no more, thanks to the leadership following the advice of their strategic planning consultant and "the General" that they brought in to run day to day operations. You can't take a lean, employee-centric culture focused on developing its employees to be some of the best in the industry and turn it into a "command and control" environment that saps the creativity and autonomy that so attracted the top talent in the DC Metro area. TrueTandem was a very special place. It is far from that now, and one would be wise to steer clear of this shell of a once great company if you value your career. As things stand now, you cannot trust the leadership that is currently in place to properly shepherd your career. Just look at the massive flight of talent that has left the company, in spite of (legacy) average base salaries that exceeded industry averages.

Good Pay Have opportunity for certification

Disorganized, They do not even have their onboarding process figured out. They do not even know how t set up their work computers, you will have to stress yourself to figure it out. They put resources on a project and pull them off in the middle of the project and bring new resources who are completely clueless about the project causing delays and blame the project manager. They will blame the project manager for everything They put resources of 4, 5 projects at a time and expect 100% commitment on each. The president Steve Breiseth is a Sycophant and only want to gain new contract, so if a customer complains, they will fire you without even investigating the claim. Their SOWs for project are completely flawed, their is no clear objective or scope so the client always add things. They will hire you and fire you a week later, because a partner doesn't like you. They give false deadlines and make promises o the client during the contract negotiation stage and the project team have to deal with the unreasonable timeline later. They will fire you without giving you any warning: no verbal warning. Just straight to firing when you make a mistake
