Really, truly awful place to work

Pros

There are some very talented, genuine people who work there. I can't understand why they stay.

Cons

Awful atmosphere with bullying behaviour by CEO and some of his team. Micro management everywhere, random priorities coming at you out of the blue, changing from one day to the next. It is, and I cannot stress this enough, soul destroying. Many reviews on here have clearly been 'encouraged'. Just go into it with your eyes open.

Pros

UBDS employs some amazing and talented people who are wonderful to work with.

Cons

My experience in UBDS was not a positive one and ultimately had a significant impact on me. I would not recommend the Delivery arm of this company to anyone. Whilst there are some great people; the leadership, processes and culture that underpin the company are not so delightful and not fit for purpose. Micro aggression, bullying, mistrust, micromanagement and lack of respect for one’s team mates at best, and at worst an environment that seeks to blame, gaslight, discriminate and shame. I believe that we all should work in environments free from fear where collaboration is foremost. Recognition should be meaningful. A healthy working environment must be inclusive. Everyone regardless of their personal characteristics must be treated fairly. In UBDS leadership do not demonstrate these behaviours and without a doubt this has a negative effect.

I’m sorry to hear that you had a negative experience working at UBDS. It sounds like you personally faced issues with the company’s leadership, processes, and culture. I do agree that it is important for companies to foster a healthy and inclusive work environment where everyone is treated fairly and with respect. UBDS strives for this culture and all other feedback that we have received to date indicates that we are achieving this. Pros

The only positive about this company is the resilience and attitudes of the people doing the actual work. There are some truly lovely and talented 'junior' personnel at this company who are being wasted and treated like garbage.

Cons

Long hours - often 12+ a day during night shifts. Frowned upon by senior management when people try and take time back during quieter periods. The company has taken on projects that are simply too large for them to handle effectively, senior management are workaholics who expect everyone to put the same hours in, with very little downtime (often much less than the legal requirement of 11 hours between shifts). Senior management do not focus on positive outcomes, instead any minor error is blown out of proportion in nonconstructive ways. Every minute of every day is accounted for and timesheets are constantly questioned - if you log less than 45 hrs in a week, you're not working hard enough. It's perfectly acceptable to log 70+ for the week before though. Micromanagement is off the scale. No one is trusted to perform their role. Contractors are actively excluded from any company social events, which creates a divide in the workforce and leads to burnout. If your face fits, you'll do ok - if not, unlucky. HR do not care about the employees, they are there as spin doctors for upper management. Truly the worst place I have ever worked.
