    Pros

Very ethical and completely down to earth company from top to work floor level.

    Cons

It is a very big organisation, at times things happen slower speed. But they always get there in the end.

    Advice to Management

Bringing energy and challenges to the staff by involving them into projects.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at UK Power Networks full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Salaries are ok Good opportunity to earn overtime People stay and the people at grass roots are great people

    Cons

Exec team are mainly mid to older males who shout and ball at you and each other in what can only be described as a bulling and volatile environment. Always freezing recruitment and restructuring. Cost cutting a big focus.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people and customers. Be quicker at getting things done trust your people they do know what they are doing execs and senior managers don’t need to micro manage so much. Look at your culture of fear you’ve created it’s not good, and is not a culture fit for todays talent.

I worked at UK Power Networks full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

The Control Systems & Automation team is arguably the best team in the company. The Control Systems & Automation Manager along with the direct line managers are very positive, knowledgeable and really listen to what you have to say. The work is challenging and it is a very close and tight knit team who will go out their way to help in any way shape or form on both a professional and personal level. - Great...

      Cons

There are 2 things that I would say that UKPN need to improve on: - Facilities and working environment - Some of the buildings and work places are not fit for purpose. They really need to invest and 'brighten' up the working environments. - Politics; Although I was shielded from the politics, interdepartmental cohesion was definitely an obstacle.

      Advice to Management

      - Too much red tape to get things done. Yes, a certain level of governance is required, but it takes far too long to push good ideas through. - Improve facilities - Recognise the 'right' individuals for accolades. Sometimes, often the wrong people/teams are selected and seems biased.
