    Pros

Truly happy so far working here. Management have been brilliant and colleagues equally as good. Enjoy the idea of working for a large company with structured processes. All in all enjoying my time.

    Cons

No real specific issues at this time.

I worked at UK Power Networks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Academic development, training courses are highly regarded elsewhere.

    Cons

Image is more important than the quality and stability of the network.
HR are useless, providing very little support to Employees, .
They brag about being an Employer of Choice yet play employees against one another.
Trade union influence is growing weaker.
The work is generally dull and repetitive.
Middle management attempt to manipulate rather than genuinely coach and in general are crooked as they come, fabricating facts for investigations and acting as if they are above the law.

    Advice to Management

Directors need to to look deeper into their departments, as middle management hide a lot of what actually goes on.

I have been working at UK Power Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Annual bonus, health scheme, good salary.

    Cons

Not very flexible for families - any flexibility is at mangers discretion rather than company policy. Any promotions or moves appear to depend on whether your face fits rather than on merit.

    Advice to Management

    The company needs more flexibility

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at UK Power Networks full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are some very kind and approachable people in the business, some robust and very effective people policies that serve to make you feel well looked after.
The office tends to empty at 5pm so work life balance is excellent.
Fantastic work going on to further understanding of diversity and inclusiveness, one of the areas that the business seems really ahead of the curve.
There's a great commitment to training courses
If you get the right line manager, you could enjoy your time here.

    Cons

Long tenure has meant that the culture is very old fashioned. The offices and buildings are shabby and uninspiring - everything is brown. Also due to the long tenure there aren't many people that have come from other companies, people are very insular.
People are scared to mention when they are working from home. Many managers don't allow it. Backwards culture in this regard - very carrot and sticks.
Outputs over outcomes. A lot of tactical things that miss the mark because the strategic wasn't in place. Frustrating environment.
Induction experience was pretty poor - intranet screams low budget

    Advice to Management

CEO is technically very competent however is an older man with traditional views and the culture reflects this. His Trump-esque comments about women/diversity and sustainability can be very off-putting. Some of the other directors are far better communicators and the business would enjoy hearing more from them.

    Pros

Great company which makes personal development of its own employees a priority - a concrete example of positive employee/employer engagement. Managerial staff at ever senior level are supportive and approachable.

    Cons

In my own experience I cannot think of any specific cons

    Pros

Good bonus scheme, really cares about health and safety. Great people overall. Good working hours, family work balance.

    Cons

Management need to be more in touch with the people who do the work. HR is useless, whether it is dealing with a bullying complaint or completing routine paperwoek
