Challenges:
I think one of the biggest challenges for Uberflip has been the high turnover rates year after year. Losing great talent hurts the company, knowledge loss is a struggle across the board for every department. These turnovers are especially impactful when senior leadership positions keep becoming empty.
Within the last year, almost the entire HR team either left or was let go and it happened all at once. It was shocking, to say the least.
There's a general lack of understanding about the product from our clients as well as from our internal teams. Progress has been made from mandatory company-wide workshops which have been helpful for everyone to understand the product and to understand the use cases. Hopefully, we'll see the ripple effect of this as clients grow to have a better understanding as well.
There is a resistance to change, innovation, or trying out new ideas. The mentality is this is how we've always done it. I wish when new ideas are proposed they would be more open to trying it out or experimenting.
Layoffs happened due to Covid-19 followed by immediate promotions as well as hiring. It's just a confusing message to send to the company.
Across the organization, different departments are treated differently. Before Covid-19 some departments had more work from home days than others. Also, some departments have bonuses while others do not. Not too sure why things vary so much between departments.
Pay is considerably lower than the industry standard for some positions. Better career paths need to be built out for everyone, I think this is something that's improving and more of these discussions are happening.
Some times it feels like we are constantly putting out fires, or over-promising to customers.
