Thanks for taking the time to share your experience at UpGuard. I agree with your comment that the people here are great! We’re proud to have built a team of unique, talented individuals who have chosen to spend this chapter of their careers with us. Not only are they contributing to the growth of UpGuard, but every team member is helping to build our much loved culture, together, moment by moment, choice by choice. Titles and strategies set the direction, but the true culture is formed in the hundreds of small interactions each day: how we listen, challenge, celebrate, and stand by one another when times are tough. It’s great to hear that you view your colleagues and the culture here positively, and it’s especially pleasing to know you find the work environment healthy. Being a globally dispersed team, we’re mindful of the wellbeing impacts remote work can present. Creating belonging and connection can be challenging when most of our interactions happen through a screen. This is an ongoing focus for us, and in fact, it’s something our People team discussed just this week as we explored new ways to strengthen that sense of connection. Lastly, I noticed that ‘career opportunities’ received a lower rating than other categories, and so wanted to highlight our career frameworks, in case you’re not familiar with them. We have been working alongside business teams to implement Career frameworks which outline the skills and competencies for each role and level within the org. These have been designed to make progression transparent, clearly outlining what success looks like in each role and level, and which competencies to focus on to grow. We’ve seen strong internal mobility, particularly within our GTM teams, and we want every team member to feel empowered to take ownership of their career journey here. If you’re unsure about the framework for your role or our promotion process, I’d encourage you to connect with your leader or the People team, we’re here to support you in exploring and achieving your next step. Thanks again for sharing your feedback — it helps us continue building an environment our people are proud of. Marcus

Pros

When the going was good this place was great. The culture, the teams, the vision, the product, the benefits – all of it was firing on all cylinders and it appeared as though it was the dream job. That’s because it was the dream job. The old office was small but it made us all closer and it was the best job you could have imagined. It was like going to work with your friends everyday working on an incredible product. We all hustled and believed in the company’s vision together but then....

Cons

The culture shifted when toxic people were hired and given the keys to the castle. Then a product pivot that no one was prepared for nor could sell happened. Then here came two rounds of layoffs, the last layoff included most of the company. Including almost all of the team that built the company from nothing. The dream was officially dead on arrival. But those toxic leaders remained untouched.
