Pros

The benefits package. Relatively nice office

Cons

Poor induction, tired software that has a code base more than 10 years old and a lack of any internal processes. They omitted to pay me my first salary and couldn't supply me with wage slips for any of my salary payments and couldn't supply a P45 after I left. A disorganised company with some good values but everything else is lacking. Talking the talk but never walking that walk. Don't even bother. Kinda sad really.

Pros

The office had a great working atmosphere with many after-work socials, group lunches and a lot of friendly buzz during the workday. They also put a lot of effort into training their employees, with both internal certification courses and external trainers brought in to keep skills current. Graduate starting salaries were good and early progression/promotion is swift, however this does tail off quickly and you find yourself at the top of a salary bracket with no opportunity for a raise early on. Employees are regularly given the opportunity to go on client visits and there's no "keeping the production staff in the back room" - you'll regularly see the people whose projects you work on. Also, they have some great people - I worked for some managers in the UK office whose skills and ability to manage people were truly inspiring.

Cons

If you are good at your job you will rapidly find yourself in a Catch-22 situation where you can't be promoted because you haven't done a particular certification course, but you can't go on the internal certification course because your work is too important for the time off to be approved. This leads to a situation where good employees regularly leave for other opportunities while sub-par "lifers" slowly work their way up the ladder and compound the problem by treating new talent as a threat. Some of the career paths are extremely limited because there's a prevailing attitude of, "that is done in the Detroit office, and can only be done in the Detroit office" - even if there are talented people capable of opening up huge amounts of new business in the branches, the head office is very closed-minded and sees this as a threat more than an opportunity.

Pros

The people are friendly and hard working. If you're in the office on a busy day, it feels like a lot of work is being done. No unnecessary meetings. The office itself is great and very conveniently located near the station and shopping centre (although there will be a move in November). There is parking near the office. The company is well immersed in the automotive and dealership field. This job and other roles would suit you well if you have had experience in either a car dealership or a car brand/manufacturer, as you will be working closely with them. Brilliant WFH policy - only had to come in around 2-4 times a year. An allowance is given to purchase necessary equipment for a home office. Career path for new graduates is clearly organised and is great for those who wish to stay for the long haul. Urban Science has an internal certification program allowing you to progress with ease.

Cons

There is only one career path available for new starters/graduates. This is one of the main reasons I left - coming from a technical background, I had no interest in consulting or management, but the analyst career path does not have an alternative to either. Although there is a technical aspect, it is restricted to SQL/Excel development. Additionally, the title of 'analyst' and the role itself feels somewhat vague. Responsibilities felt like a mix of data and business analysis. There is a lack of organised documentation for new starters to better understand the applications and databases. I found it wasn't a lack of SQL knowledge, but rather knowledge of the databases and how data is organised, that presented the biggest barrier to completing tasks. YMMV - depending on which team you are in, you may end up not meeting your manager/other team members for a long time as they are not based in your country's office. I never met either of my managers in person. Pension contribution could be better.
