Pros

Stable, great state benefits, on-site gym, paid time to exercise, incentives to get healthy, free parking, covered parking as it becomes available, good insurance

Cons

No why to move up or out of your current position, hard to cross-over to another position, some managers can be "stuck in the past" with old ways of thinking, people tend to stay so moving around is very difficult, reviews are set up in a way that makes it hard to receive a good one, salary is lower than mid stream or the private sector which is why the benefits are good. Raises depend on the economy. I was there for six years and only saw one raise across the board for everyone. No matter how well your review everyone gets 2%.

Pros

I do work for a direct manager that cares & has my back

Cons

Director of my department has no people skills, cannot lead . Hires and creates positions for suck up with outrageous pay over dedicated employees already doing the job. Refuses to go to bat for employees already here working to get us fair wages. No room for advancement for the regular Joes. You will be thrown under the bus and stabbed in the back by this person & coat tail riders. It trickles down. Moral is low. If you want to be tied to your desk & not feel free to talk to your co-workers & associate then this job is right for you. Only the strong survive. You will burn out quick. Be ready to start taking anxiety medication because if you don't have it, just wait you will.

Pros

The benefits are undeniably great in reference to medical and dental coverage. They offer a gym and showers with lockers to store you workout gear. HR department is very helpful, and understanding. The people you work with will are primarily great to work with, making a buddy is easy. Sometimes you get the left over lunch trays from a catered lunch meeting the management staff have every so often.

Cons

HR does not have a lot of control of what goes on in the departments, majority of the time you are referred back to your supervisor or manager. This makes things difficult when they are entirely or partially the problem. If you are sick and the doctor requires you to take time off, and this is stated in your excuse note ( yes you may be required to get a doctor's not to excuse your absence from work) they will not allow you to work, but if it happens that you do not have the pto or sick time to cover your shift, they will write you up. That's right, you read that right THEY WON'T LET YOU COME TO WORK IF THE DOCTOR SAYS YOU SHOULD STAY HOME, BUT THEN YOU WILL BE WRITTEN UP FOR NOT COMING INTO WORK IF YOU RUN OUT OF PTO BECAUSE THEY MADE YOU STAY HOME!! NO EXCEPTION TO THE RULE. Also regarding time off requests, they will always give you hard time about it, if you are falling low on time,( they feel you should have 16 hours each sick and PTO at ALL times incase you need it they say) they will pull you in and tell you they will approve it but remind you that they will have to write you up for going under. So rule is " we expect you to have 16 hours of each for when you need it, but when you need it we will give you a hard time or deny your request for trying to use it." This is not a policy by the way. The moral in customer service is horrible. If someone who has been here for almost 2 decades says they are willing to just walk out the door and never look back, you literally need to self evaluate. We are nothing but numbers, we are not humans who have feelings and go through personal issues. If you are sick, or having girl time do not go into the bathroom for more than 10 minutes, they will send you and email with a screen shot of the time monitoring system that shows you were on personal for more than 10 minutes. If you bled through your clothes you better find a solution in less than 10 minutes or you have to take annual. Even if you explain this to your supervisor you will have to take annual or use it as your break. Guys that means no bathroom breaks for number two for longer than 10 minutes either. Also the fact that you have to explain in detail why you were off the phones is pretty embarrassing. You are on your own, you have no support from your superiors, they do not care about YOU, they care about your work. I believe that you have to care about your employees in order to have a successful team. Forgetting the solders on the front line means you are weak as a whole. To move up in the company is a joke. You are told in the beginning that there are so many vacancies because of the rate of promotion. That gives you false hope, you have to make sure you are going above what they say they expect of you. You have to do more because what they say they expect is actually less than what they actually expect, doing your job at the successful level, means you are sub par, you have to go above and beyond to get a promotion, Even if you have to sacrifice your family, your wellness, and your sanity to be here and do a great job without so much as a thank you, that is the only way you will be able to move up at this company. Think of that part of office space when Jennifer Aniston's character has the conversation about flare. That is the best illustration of the mentality of management around here!
