Pros

Engaging and exciting progress in the cutting edge of clinical genetics technology (Whole Genome Sequencing). Utilizes amazing homebrew NGS dashboard software. Non-leadership co-workers are friendly, helpful, intelligent and hard working.

Cons

Company is mismanaging massive growth in case load. Quality can be sacrificed for volume output (operational demands trump scientific expertise). Pay for positions on the lower end of average, in some cases significantly below market standards. Leadership is insular and does not deal kindly with dissidence. A change in leadership culture could turn this company around, but currently it is not stable. Avoid this company.

Pros

- remote work - attractive and appealing mission and work - Team members on small teams are usually collaborative

Cons

Like other reviews have said...so much nepotism. I interviewed with a family member of one of the C-Suite, and I should have ended there. Had I realized the obscene amount of family and close friend relationships I would have reconsidered joining, and it only has gotten worse. The next red flag was the CEO discussing later on how awesome it was to have grown to so many employees along with IPO talks at a time when the rest of the biotech industry was cutting their own employees. CSO and CFO were hired not long later, and then next thing you know the first round of layoffs. Several months later, an enormous 25% second layoff absolutely destroyed morale, but none from HR, finance, or family/friends were let go (what a surprise). Not to mention dumping people into management roles with zero training. Great people work here, but the size this company has grown to from what it started with absolutely zero preparation is embarrassing. Obsessing over growth while struggling with the product is a great way to fail. the ship is sinking.

Pros

Cutting edge technology and NGS sequencing Nice non-managerial coworkers Remote work

Cons

I was fired after 3 months of working there because quote “I was not completing the training expectations at the pace they would like”. No warning, no “we need you to complete x amount of cases by y date”, no support whatsoever, and no regard to employee career growth. A company that hires and fires after 3 months when the usual training period for this field is 6-9 months is absurd. Avoid at all costs.
