Pros

Some really smart people still work here and they really want to do a good job despite management's best efforts to mess it all up. Good work life balance and some good opportunity for career advancement if you can put up with the culture The company has so much potential if only it wasn't fighting with 2 hands tied behind back.

Cons

Culture has changed significantly since the Bain buyout. People are now numbers rather than individuals, fixing broken usability issues is lauded as innovation while serious architectural issues are ignored as they don't directly contribute to sales targets. Senior management is throwing out project management processes proven to work in the 2000 (agile) and replacing it with methods proven to fail in the 70s (waterfall). Engineers are now timetracking against projects and it feels like it's a matter of time before we will need to get sign off to take a leak. There has been a massive cull of amazing technical leaders from the top down with the majority seemingly being fired for speaking out against the changes.

Pros

Lovely office in handy city centre location. Relaxed atmosphere. Overtime almost unheard of amongst devs. Fairly regular free pizza / cakes / etc in the office - Bacon sandwiches on payday!

Cons

The old Family feel back when the company was 4Projects before being bought out was slowly being replaced by a more rigid corporate feel. "Work hard, Play hard" attitude can be off putting if you're not part of the drinking culture. Very little job progression, except applying for your boss's position if they quit. Flexible working often not very flexible. American head office doesn't really understand (or apparently care) about the main UK product, which was basically being left to die.
