Re: Come to GROW

Pros

This should be looked at as a "pit-stop" job and NOTHING else. For all the teens looking for a first job; if you absolutely cannot find work, just do it for the experience. Get hired and literally start looking for a new job after about 3 months and tell your next potential employer that you're looking for a "bigger challenge" and "more responsibility"...you have to promote in order to touch a register for crying out loud.

Cons

Unprofessional company: The "come to work come to grow" review shows that this company has no identity; The Gap, Wet seal, and Anna's linens are hardly competitors to a sneaker store. Those comparisons are irrelevant. The "if you're looking for a place to kick back" comment is insulting to the negative reviews from past employees who felt abused by management, this also ties in with the "Feel good company" review....Management is clearly NOT fair and its because they promote from within too heavily. Most of the managers are entry level with little to no experience. A lot of managers are not willing to separate themselves from their employees professionally, and include themselves in very unprofessional gatherings outside of work...which is exactly why you need to "Kiss Butt" to promote and why its similar to a "High School Environment." From the small talk I've had with managers in different locations, a lot of these managers are close friends and even relatives...big names like Adidas and Nike would never be open to relatives managing and promoting each other, which is why this business will never grow. Bottom line: its a dead end job. Note that I haven't even dabbled in how heavy the workload is for the associates in comparison to management day-to-day.
