Doesn't live up to own value's and openly racist.

Pros

Generally relaxed atmosphere depending on department.

Cons

No accountability for employees. Department heads in various stores and in the corporate office are openly racist especially towards African Americans. Have white washed department heads of all people of color. Incompetent managers who take no value to you or your work. Instability in scheduling. You could get your hours slashed at any point for any reason and then also be expected to stay hours after your schedule because others call out. Have fallen away from the co-op principles they set for a more corporate structure which stripped benefits from store level employees. Office workers are grossly overpaid in comparison to store workers despite experience levels and threaten to take away health care to meet the companies bottom line. Corporate wastes thousands of dollars on items that aren't needed to benefit day to day operation while ignoring structural issues that are costing the company hundreds per day.

Great fit for the right person

Pros

Floor staff are generally friendly and have a great community together. Decent pay and benefits for the job at entry levels. You often find people with other passions (musicians, artists, etc) working here for a steady income and some health care, so you can have a flexible schedule for that part of your life, it’s a good environment if you fit that.

Cons

Small company, so it can be hard to move up, or at least past buyer positions. Pay is decent but a lot of cultural fits don’t last because while WW has a great mission, at the end of the day, it’s a grocery store. There just aren’t enough upper level positions for people to move into. However, some poor decisions were made to pay some at the top way too much money, or for a shiny candidate that didn’t pay off anyways. Admin/Leadership sometimes fit the more old school philly and co-op mentality and aren’t as kind or easy to work with. Leadership staff can be rude to their team members. You’d think a grocer would be the kind of place where you could leave your work, but I often felt like I was expected to answer calls and emails on my day off about deliveries, etc and that could be respected more.

Pros

Some of the best co-workers I've ever had. Generally relaxed/understanding atmosphere. Employee discount, free food sometimes. Pretty diverse employee group. Community atmosphere.

Cons

Base pay is low, not surprising. Employees who have been with the Coop for a long time are not held accountable. High turnover, disorganized, wasteful.
