Not a normal 9-5 job. The hours are based on the client's needs and the activities taking place that week. No two weeks were ever the same. A full-time Community Resource Coordinator will have between 5-9 clients on their caseload. The more clients in your caseload the more difficult scheduling becomes. You are required to transport clients in your own vehicle. As a Community Resource Coordinator expect to drive between 150-300 miles per week. Except for weekends you are always on call. 9 am Monday through 5 pm Friday your work phone is required to be on. Clients have contacted me as late as 1 am and as early as 6 am and Management as early as 7 am. You will sometimes have to work extremely long shifts (ten to twelve hours). A massive amount of documentation is required and only six hours of administrative time is allotted per week. The amount of documentation required and the pace of when it is due is incredibly difficult. The balance between work and having a personal life was almost nonexistent. The company nine times out of ten will look outside the company to fill positions rather than hire internal candidates. High employee turnover; when the program is short-handed they want you to fill in with clients. However even though they are short-handed they still don’t want you to exceed forty hours per week because they can’t afford to pay out overtime. Horrible management. I feel that some people at this company don’t care about the clients or the staff they manage. I was asked to do things that I viewed to be unethical such as being told not to mandate report situations I knew needed to be reported.
