DSR Org Springboards to Success

Pros

It's rare to find a sales organization so obsessed with the development of its reps and their skillset. The Digital Sales Org at Workfront has been the best place I could ask for to learn how to become a sales professional in the technology Saas industry. My manager gave me several opportunities to develop my leadership muscles and I was always challenged to help my peers and leveraged my talents that she helped me to identify in myself. The Directors and VP also personally took painstaking efforts to help me feel valued and let me develop. I feel like my leaders are very approachable and are open to feedback, even when it may be hard for them to hear. I know that with the resources available, my success is determined by my willingness to be coached and to implement training in my prospecting efforts. I love the energy of the sales floor and feel fortunate to be surrounded by so many talented, caring individuals who sincerely celebrate each other's success.

Cons

I do feel that some of us have been sold on the dream of becoming a professional salesperson specifically at Workfront. The opportunities to move into a midmarket AE position haven't been as frequent as some of us would have liked so some of my peers have taken AE gigs at other saas firms in the area, but across the board their DSR experience at Workfront is what has helped to set them apart and prepare them for their next step.

Overall culture was good. Perks were good - unlimited PTO, ERGs, remote work options.

Cons

People & Culture and leadership were not very skilled at training new managers on how to be great leaders. They were also not very skilled at holding bad managers accountable for improving

Pros

The training is very fast pace which I like. They give you a solid foundation to be successful right out of the gate in sales.

Cons

The only thing I've seen wrong so far is during training there was one new hire that kept interjecting and prolonging conversations which was unnecessary all she was doing was repeating what the trainer said and no one stopped her.

Pros

The C-level leadership is top notch. Those are leaders that I'd love to have lunch with. They are experienced and are good people that are well suited for their jobs. The CEO is a phenomenal story teller who embraces open and clear communication from the top down, which is an amazing thing. You'll never wonder what the company direction is. The marketing department is a team that embodies a solid culture of employee development and individual career growth. The senior and junior leaders in marketing have a genuine interest in their teams and I would highly recommend anyone to work on that team. HR has a sound understanding of what Workfront culture should be. They have wonderful leadership on that team that genuinely care for their staff. Sales enablement has a great team and leadership too. They have been producing solid content and opportunities for reps and managers to take their skills to the next level.

Cons

You know it's a problem when sales leadership has to go around and tell the sales teams that there is no boogie man out to get you, but then you see sales guys get let go with no warning. A little bit of a mixed message there. The sad truth is there is a reoccurring joke that surfaces weekly, where the sales reps express confusion, wondering if they are next... The reason there is a boogie man is because a number of the junior, mid and high level sales managers embody the "what have you done for me lately" sales culture. Some are very capable in their roles and are a delight to work for, but the majority have no sales skills, no people development skills, and no coaching or training skills, which are the actual characteristics of a functional manager. If you like spread sheet sales managers, this might be the place for you. The fact is, all the good sales managers, good sale reps and good people have either left, or are actively looking to leave. If that is happening in any sales organization at any company, you know you have a serious problem.

Pros

I work specifically in the Product department, specifically UX. We are a completely different team today than we were just a year ago and that is due to the fact that the leaders are open to feedback and willing to collaborate for a better team culture, process, and work life. I am not afraid to voice dissenting opinions to my managers, and even the VP. The Product department as a whole has a work hard, play hard mentality, and are the smartest bunch I've worked with. They are respectful to each other, often stopping conversations in order to have the right people included and involved. Others: - Unlimited PTO - Customer-focused - Fun people to work with - Lots of food

Cons

It's strange that we were all moved to scrum and told to adopt the methodology without any real training.

Pros

I love every second working here - the training, people, culture, product, customers are just a joy every day.

Cons

Lots of change so definitely need to be gritty and roll with the punches, but I think that's probably universal these days
