A great cause, inspiring leadership

Pros

The organisation has had some great leadership and while now in transition the foundations have been laid for success. It has a powerful and important cause which is inspiring to work towards. The focus on tackling digital inequality and improving online experiences for women and girls runs through the a passionate and committed workforce. Adrian Lovett's leadership as CEO was inspiring and his commitment to being a visible and active CEO with a clear mission stood out for me. He had huge ambition for the organisation which hopefully will be carried through under new leadership.

Cons

A dispersed team naturally throws up challenges made more difficult by covid. The lack of visibility of the Board is a real problem while it is disappointing that there is limited interaction with the founders in particular. There is a disconnect as a result.

Overall great experience working for important cause

Pros

- Org has high credibility delivering on one of the world's most important issues. - Worked with some brilliant (and kind) colleagues who are at the forefront of their areas of expertise. - Opportunities for progressive growth and culture of trust and autonomy. - A dedicated, thoughtful CEO and management team. - High-profile founder helping to increase impact of the work.

Cons

- Works on a lot of issue areas, which with a small team, means resources were sometimes stretched thin. Would benefit from more focus. - Remote work culture can be challenging and this was magnified during the Covid lockdown with some difficult interpersonal dynamics. Though the Management team and then-CEO took action, investing in workplace culture including a Head of People and Culture, who made an immediate impact.

Pros

CEO and senior leadership are committed to the mission and to doing right by the team Team produces great work Strong and diverse group of colleagues who are experts in their fields

Cons

Remote working allows people to work in their own space and enables a more diverse workforce but sometimes makes it harder to get people to see each other's different perspectives and empathise with one another
