Pros

Good perks for a startup (pension and performance based appraisal) Strong company branding and marketing Ability to move due to very dynamic environment Some good people

Cons

The marketing and the actual reality of Xerotech are at complete odds. Due to time pressure caused by the lack of ability to produce batteries in any serious numbers, the company is constantly fire fighting engineering problems instead of fixing them properly. The net effect of this is a lack of quality and engineering depth in key product areas. No validation or long term reliability testing had been completed despite the batteries being produced. This was very concerning given the nature of the product. No strong engineering leadership present especially in relation to System/SW topics. There is a lack of connection between the departments and a general lack of understanding of the SW elements among the senior management team. A tense culture exists with leadership direction changing on a weekly basis. If you are thinking of joining, get opinions from people working there currently (not early joiners with shares) and that have worked there previously. Do not rely on the marketing output to form your opinion. The constant press releases regarding additional people are also at odds with the production reality.

Pros

Pay was good, but nothing else to add. I did meet some really talented and friendly folks though.

Cons

Xerotech is a peculiar place. They sell a lot of hopes and dreams, but the reality is completely at odds. The CEO speaks very technically in terms of the so-called patented technology of Battery systems, but is unable to transform that fancy talk to actual functioning batteries. They do zero testing, provide absolutely no support to R&D, and have a clueless Management leading the pack. The Senior Management is a group of members who are clueless on making batteries. They hire SMEs, expect 100% alignment to their silliness, don't listen to a word of their work and end up showing them the door. The CEO keeps his own group of individuals whose sole job is to keep track of people and check for non-conformity, quite alarming for an organisation's culture.

Pros

None, I gave up another job offer to be here because I believed the hype.

Cons

No pay-rises this year, part of the assembly line being closed down and not many batteries are being manufactured. Some departments (Marketing for eg) are huge and the numbers do not make sense. Some leaders have left or are about to leave. I regret not taking the other role I was offered, I'd have had a secure role and less anxiety today if I had not joined Xerotech.
