      Great shop to be at as a developer

      Pros

      Good work life balance generally. Amazing experience and technology. Opportunities to work on open source technology at your day job. Low level problem solving at a level I'd imagine only seeing at companies like google. Extremely clean Scala and Akka codebase.

      Cons

      Very strong opinions mean you better be a really good developer or you'll get a bit marginalized. Maybe not a lot of room to grow given company size. Technology probably the best in industry but company facing harder competition going forward.

      Most incompetent management I've ever experienced.

      Pros

      The work is kind of interesting. A few of the people are nice. Location is relatively central and easy to access.

      Cons

      Management at the highest levels are either unwilling or unable to do their jobs. They are totally incompetent. Maybe that's why they are unable to keep a project manager. Most of the staff don't really seem to care about the company and are just going through the motions. No culture. No sense of "team". Agile practices are not really adhered to. Staff turnover is far higher than it should be for a company of this size. Communication between different departments is almost non-existent. Meaningful communication between the management and staff is completely non-existent.
