We’re proud to announce the launch of our colleague-led network: the LGBTQ+ Network at First Central. 🌈 ✨ Throughout the week, our colleagues have come together to connect, share, and celebrate through a series of virtual and in person events: Monday: Pride in Pages and Pixels The LGBTQ+ Book, TV, Podcast, and Film Club hosted by Martha Tierney and Callum Rowland. Tuesday: Pride and Pour Coffee Morning A chance to “espresso” yourself over coffee, hosted by Morgan Nik Harris. Today: Baked with Pride A delicious bake sale supporting the Terrence Higgins Trust and World AIDS Day. Thursday: Pride Happy Hour A casual afterwork gathering to connect with our LGBTQ+ Network and colleagues. Friday: Pride Perspectives A panel discussion hosted by Andrew Flewitt (MCIPD), featuring insights from Ali Carter, DipESG, Ben Thompson, Devon-Louise Cooper, and Martha Tierney. Over the last two years ESG has become a central part of First Central’s mission. We are passionate about our inclusive culture and taking more ambitious steps on our sustainability journey. Here is what Ali has to say about her experience: “I have had the privilege of leading our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives over the past two years and it has shown me just how incredible our colleagues really are. Their authenticity, passion, and the quality of the work they deliver to support each other genuinely makes me emotional! From fundraising to raising awareness, menopause cafes to discussion panels—we’re a community of colleagues who truly understand what it means to be inclusive. The warmth and camaraderie here is inspiring, and unlike anywhere else I've ever worked! Not only that, our HR policies were truly designed with our people in mind and demonstrate our commitment to our people. While we’re still in the early stages of our sustainability journey, I’m also so motivated by the passion and knowledge-sharing happening all around us. It’s exciting to see how we’re coming together to develop innovative solutions that not only strengthen our workplace but also positively impact the environment. Here’s what Sarah has to say about her experience: “When I joined First Central, the promise of flexibility was a major draw. However, you never really know if a company will walk the talk until you’re part of it. My home life is just as busy as my work life, and in communications, we’re always on, supporting the entire business. The variety and fast pace are what I love about my job—I’m never bored! But I also want to be there for the important moments with my family. I want to do my share of school pick-ups, cheer at the egg and spoon race, and host after-school playdates. First Central’s progressive approach to flexible working allows me to enjoy the best of both worlds: a fulfilling career and a real presence at home. Striking this balance makes me appreciate my time in the office, at events, and on away days even more. We're thrilled to share that our Policy Review Specialist Lily Roberts had the chance to experience Taylor Swift's Era Tour at Wembley Stadium last Month, all thanks to YOUFirst Social. In celebration of World Music Day, we gave our colleagues the chance to win two Hospitality tickets to this iconic event. After a highly entered draw, Lily was the lucky winner and enjoyed the concert from a Reserved Premium Seat with a fantastic view. The night looked truly special, with access to the hospitality lounge, complimentary drinks, and an amazing atmosphere. The photos say it all - what a memorable evening! Congratulations Lily! It was great to see many of our colleagues from our Haywards Heath and Manchester offices getting together for our ‘Squad Games’ event – a summer celebration inspired by Squid Game! 🌍 It’s Earth Day and we have big news…🌍 We’re thrilled to share that First Central has joined Ecologi | B Corp™! 🎉 At First Central, we’re all about culture and doing good. So, we’re very excited to join a platform which will enable us to invest projects that support the communities most affected by climate change, reduce or avoid carbon emissions and plant trees! 🌱 Our digital forest is just getting started, but we’ve already helped fund 3 projects and have avoided a whopping 1,624 tonnes of carbon. Not a bad start! We’re also going to be planting our first 100 trees in honour of one of our fantastic colleagues as a prize for naming our Digital Forest. So, watch this space! 🌳 🌳 🌳 Whilst we’re very proud of this milestone, we also recognise that this is only one small part of a much bigger picture.
