Codegoda is a competition for coders by coders, organized annually by Agoda. This year, we’ve continued the success of our very own programming competition with an even bigger and more successful 2022 edition. Behind the scenes, our cross-department team took on the mission of organizing the region’s biggest coding competition. Here’s how we pulled it off.
Agoda’s parent company Booking Holdings has announced the promotion of Omri Morgenshtern to Chief Executive Officer of Agoda, effective 1 July 2022. John Brown will become Chair, Agoda. Omri, currently Chief Operating Officer, has worked for Agoda for eight years, and he has played a critical role alongside John in navigating Agoda’s growth through some of the toughest times in the travel industry. We are excited to see where his passion and vision for tech and travel takes us. Staying in a hotel room for two weeks is not the best experience one would face, especially when they just move to a new country. At Agoda, we bring in a lot of colleagues from countries across the globe to our biggest offices in Bangkok each year. And due to COVID-19, every person arriving in Thailand is required to stay in a State Quarantine, or in our case, Alternative State Quarantine for 15 days. Our Onboarding team addressed that and initiated what we call the ASQ Care Pack—a package of little things to brighten up one’s quarantine.
What would keep you in a company for 10 years? In September 2020, our CEO John Brown marked his 10th anniversary at Agoda. He began his career here when we were just 200 people and far less structured. He now leads a company that’s 20x larger.
