Small steps have a big impact and it's a sentiment many of our hospitals took to heart on Earth Day, using it as a perfect moment to reinforce good practice and embark on initiatives to improve their local environments. Albyn Hospital's Theatre Team had their own, special take on World Earth Day: "One Earth. Many Cultures. One Team. World Earth Day celebration of sustainability, international staff, and inclusivity." Alongside their commitment to sustainability by eliminating disposable cups, they also embraced the opportunity to celebrate the diversity of their team. Staff marked the occasion by bringing in traditional dishes from their home countries,
This Easter, The Hampshire Clinic team spreading a little extra joy in their local community. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of staff, they were able to donate 136 Easter Eggs to the hospital's chosen charity, Basingstoke & District Young Carers which supports young carers aged 8 to 18 across Basingstoke and Deane. These young people shoulder responsibilities far beyond their years, and the Hampshire team hope that the donation brought them a moment of happiness and reminded them that their community is thinking of them.
The latest Friends & Family Test results for admitted patients are out and The Sloane Hospital achieved 100% in February. Understandably, Executive Director Ross Wareing was delighted that the care his team proved has been rated so highly. Reaching 100% means that every single admitted patient who responded said they would recommend the Sloane. Ross confirmed that he genuinely couldn't recall seeing a 100% score for admitted patients before, which made it an exceptional result and something the whole team could be very proud of. Results like this don’t happen by chance. They reflect the professionalism, kindness and teamwork shown across the hospital every day, from the first patient interaction through to discharge. Every team plays a part in delivering the experience our patients receive. Congratulations team Sloane!
As part of its ongoing commitment to staff development and high‑quality patient care, Dr James Harris at Bishops Wood, ran a comprehensive Difficult Airway Training session alongside the hospital's Resident Medical Officer, the theatre anaesthetic team and the CSM-Theatres. Our hospitals place a strong emphasis on continuous training and professional growth, ensuring its teams remain confident, skilled and fully prepared for complex clinical scenarios.
Last month the Albyn Hospital team got into the holiday spirit with staff Christmas lunches and a jolly Christmas Jumper Day. A massive shout‑out to Giuseppe and his amazing catering team for serving up such a lovely lunch. They also swapped scrubs and uniforms for sparkle at their Christmas Party at the Sandman Hotel, Aberdeen, when they danced the night away after enjoying a fabulous three‑course meal.
This week we celebrated Christmas Jumper day and here are some of the glorious Christmas Jumpers sported by the team at The Alexandra Hospital. Thanks to everyone who joined in and raised funds for Save the Children.
Senior Physiotherapist Laura Brookes from Priory has recently returned from Nepal where she trekked to Everest Base Camp and raised over £3000 for Breast Cancer Now. Huge congratulations Laura - an incredible achievement!
Supporting World Food Day! The theme of this year's event was 'Hand-in-hand for Better Foods and a Better Future'. The team at Werndale Hospital came together to collect donations for Carmarthen Foodbank, which is run by just two people and since its creation in 2013 has fed over 26,000 people. On behalf of the team, Andre Bothma, Executive Director, Richard Davies, Director of Operations, and Caroline Anthony, Hotel Services Manager delivered the generous contributions, for which the Foodbank staff were incredibly grateful.
The team at Woodlands hospital had the pleasure of welcoming Rubab Fahad, Group Centre of Excellence Leader and Lynn Parker, Senior Manager for People Programmes from Pure Health to discuss the exciting global Trailblazers initiative hosted by our owners PureHealth . The team really valued the opportunity to share ideas and think about ideas for future innovation at Circle Health Group and the global PureHealth ecosystem.
The Albyn Hospital’s Imaging team swapped scans for stretcher-building at their annual BBQ and team-building day – and this year, they had a very special assignment: to save “Bridget Bones”! Armed with determination (and a good sense of humour), the team took on six challenges ranging from navigating a “message in a bottle” through piping, to guiding each other through a blindfolded obstacle trail, and even constructing a stretcher to carry a colleague. Thanks to some brilliant teamwork, Bridget Bones was rescued in record time – just 32 minutes! The day was filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of BBQ treats, while also giving the Imaging team a fantastic opportunity to strengthen their bond and showcase the spirit that makes The Albyn so special.
