Twenty members of the finance, legal and HR teams at CBS and Cannon Street used their CHG volunteering day to help in a tree planting day with trees for cities at Mile End Park London. Despite the lashing rain, the team managed to plant 12 mature trees as it supported Trees for Cities, the only charity working on an international scale to create greener cities. Trees for Cities strengthens communities through volunteering opportunities, whether it’s revitalising forgotten spaces, creating healthier environments or inspiring children to grow and eat good food. Trees for Cities has been working with Tower Hamlets Council to deliver tree planting projects that bring together the local community to make improvements to outdoor green spaces across the borough. The trees the CHG team planted will contribute to the Tower Hamlets tree canopy cover, introduce new habitat for wildlife, and increase biodiversity and to create a more welcoming space for the local community to use. The new trees being planted at this site will support biodiversity, sequester CO2 and improve local air quality, and engage residents and local businesses alike.
Congratulations to Amy Vickers, Princess Margaret Hospital Pharmacy Assistant, for successfully passing her qualification to become a Pharmacy Technician. Amy has had to fit her full-time studies around her part-time role at the hospital while caring for a young family. Her thirst to learn and apply that knowledge has been recognised and welcomed by the pharmacy team. Well done Amy, a real asset to the team.
At Kings Park, Executive Director, Elizabeth Macleod presented Housekeeper Moira Richardson with her award for 15 years' service.
Towards the end of last year, Droitwich Spa set a target of reaching 500 Google reviews by Christmas. The race to 500 was on and the team is delighted to report that they absolutely smashed it! Physiotherapy and pre-assessment received the most mentions, but the entire hospital team really pulled together with encouraging patients to leave reviews (80 in just one month). This is a great achievement as it reinforces just how much the whole Droitwich Spa team is appreciated by patients. They're now on a mission to achieve their next 500 reviews!
Goring Hall Hospital has nominated the Worthing Dementia Hub as its nominated charity for 2024. Director of Clinical Services Gary McHardy kicked off the team's year-long support with a visit to the charity's dementia café. He got to meet some who have dementia and others who cared for them. The team put Gary to work as they made teas and coffees, and cleaned the facilities, but he devoted lots of this day listening and talking. One of his key takeaways was that it's important to not don’t worry if you hear the same story twice because it may lead to another topic the second time you hear it. But perhaps the most important thing is to treat people as people and not a diagnosis. Each individual had their own abilities and character and this the precious thing that should be supported.
TV chef Clodagh McKenna was guest of honour at the official opening of Runnymede Hospital’s new £1.2m imaging department. Alongside Clodagh, who is the resident chef on ITV’s This Morning show, were the incredibly proud Runnymede team, Chief Operating Officer, Karen Prins,Chief Medical Officer Paul Manning and Regional Director Chris Marshall. The investment in the new department, including digital X-ray and Cone-Beam CT, will transform the hospital’s diagnostic services and enable it to see more patients and diagnose them faster.
Last week, Goring Hall Hospital held an 'All things orthopaedics' patient event which generated attendance of a large number of people from the local community. The meaningful interaction with Consultant Mr Koushik Ghosh and Physio Lead Stephen Wood was particularly valued by attendees. Well done to the hospital's Self Pay team, Matt Chenery and Karen Haslam for designing and delivering such a successful event.
Many congratulations to Cayley from Goring Hall Hospital for passing her nurse associate course and obtaining her NMC pin. Well done Cayley. Pictured here with her colleagues Maili and Benita.

I’m Jen, Twelve years ago I came to The Alexandra for a job interview for the Inpatient Therapy Team Leader role, within the Physiotherapy department. It was the best career move I could have made. I had an extensive clinical background within the NHS including in the community setting, so a move to Private Health care and management was daunting but exciting. My journey led to a Deputy Manager position, acquiring a Team Leading certificate and ILM level 3 qualification. There are so many in house training opportunities that I have been provided with in addition to learning from my peers. I am now the Clinical Services Manager for Therapies at The Alexandra Hospital. Circle Health Group staff provide an extensive wealth of knowledge and expertise that is available should you be keen to learn. I have just embarked on the award winning “Towards Outstanding” leadership course which has already been inspiring and enabled me to consolidate my leadership knowledge and identify areas for further expansion of my skills. Every day there are learning opportunities for me within my job and it’s great to have the chance to challenge myself. I’m very proud to work for the Alexandra Hospital and it’s certainly an exciting time to be employed by Circle Health Group.
