Last week, our CEO, Paul Hayes, had the honour of speaking at the prestigious House of Lords for the launch of the Care Workers Advisory Board & the Champions Project. Paul expressed the vital role of care workers stating: "We are honoured to be supporting the launch of the Care Workers Advisory Board and the Champions Project during Professional Care Workers Week. As the CEO of a care provider organisation, I am so proud of each and every one of our care workers who make a positive difference to the lives of the people we are privileged to provide care for every day. I’m proud to say I started out at 16 years old as a carer working in a nursing home and throughout my career have always championed the role of the professional care worker to receive the recognition and reward it truly deserves." Paul addressed the UK care crisis, urging industry collaboration to tackle the challenges ahead: "With 152 vacancies & an aging population, we need more professional carers than ever before. These statistics should serve as a reminder of the importance of our care workers & the importance of the work the Care Workers Charity are doing. It's crucial that we recognise & give credence to the profession of being a care worker. Your voices matter, and we must listen to those who are on the front line every single day. If we want to come together to solve the UK social care crisis, we need to work collaboratively & ensure we're improving outcomes for those who need our support the most.”
As part of The Care Workers' Charity Professional Care Workers’ Week 2024, we've asked some of our fabulous team for their stories about care. This is from Umesh at Kitnocks House…… “I love working at Kitnocks House as a senior healthcare assistant as I am valued for my role here. This is not the first company I have worked for as a care assistant, but I can definitely say this is where I have enjoyed working the most. The best thing is my opinions are also valued and I am respected which matters the most to me. Not to forget, the work is fun because of my amazing staff and supporting staff in all departments at Kitnocks House.”
As part of The Care Workers' Charity Professional Care Workers’ Week 2024, we've asked some of our fabulous team for their stories about care. This is from Akshay at Kitnocks House…… “I was always interested in working for people in need. That’s the reason why I came to the UK to do my master degree in Disaster Management in 2021. Working for people in need makes me feel valued. I have been a Healthcare Assistant since 2021. Being a carer gives me the feeling of being valued and the opportunity to help others and those in need. I am always happy to help anyone. Cornerstone has given me the opportunity to help people, and I am grateful for being given the opportunity to do so and the experience of being a professional healthcare assistant. Being a carer has also taught me to value things. Someone told me before, there are 3 kinds of people in the world, those who are care givers, those who were caregivers and those who want to be caregivers. Being a carer gives me the opportunity to learn more about people, and their needs, likes, behaviours and culture. Being a carer keeps me who I am and I am very happy to work as a carer.”
