We’re excited to introduce the Equity Residential 2026 Next Gen Summer Interns! This year’s Next Gen group brings together a talented and diverse mix of students from across the country, each offering fresh perspectives, strong academic backgrounds, and a passion for learning and growth. These individuals will be joining teams across both our corporate offices (starting June 1st) and onsite communities (starting June 2nd). Throughout the summer, our Next Gen interns will gain hands-on experience, contribute to meaningful projects, and build connections across the organization. Just as importantly, they’ll have the opportunity to learn from all of our teams, who make Equity such a special place to grow a career. We’re excited for the energy and ideas this group will bring!

This week holds several meaningful observances across our communities. On March 31, we recognize Transgender Day of Visibility. This week also marks the beginning of Passover for many, while Easter is approaching for others. These moments can shape the rhythm of someone’s week; from meals and travel to reflection, celebration, and being seen. If you’re observing, we’re glad you’re here. If you’re learning, you’re welcome here too. This is Different. Together. in practice, making room for one another in small, everyday ways.

As Eid al-Fitr approaches, many in our community may be preparing to mark an important moment of joy, reflection, prayer, and connection. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting in Islam, and its exact date depends on the sighting of the moon. In the U.S., it is expected around March 20, 2026. Like many meaningful observances, Eid can shape the rhythm of a day in ways others may not always see. It might mean early morning prayers, time with family and friends, special meals, giving, celebration, or simply carrying a different kind of energy into the day. Eid al-Fitr is widely observed as a time for communal prayer, gathering, generosity, and sharing food with loved ones. Inclusion can look like making room for those moments. Sometimes that means giving a colleague space to be fully present in what matters to them. Sometimes it means learning a little more about a tradition you may not know much about. Sometimes it is as simple as recognizing that what looks like an ordinary workday to one person may hold deep meaning for someone else. If you are celebrating Eid al-Fitr, we’re glad you’re here and wish you joy as you mark the holiday. If you’re learning, you’re welcome here too. Making room for one another does not require having all the right words. It starts with curiosity, care, and the willingness to notice what may matter deeply to someone else. Eid Mubarak to all who are celebrating.

Sustainability is a commitment we keep leaning into. 🌱 Our California teams recently welcomed the U.S. Green Building Council to our LA office for valuable insights on policy updates and what’s next for green building in California. We also celebrated a proud moment at the Building Awards & Green Gala, where Kevin Folkes, Sr Manager, Energy & Sustainability, was nominated for the Emerging Leader Award. We’re so grateful for a team that continues to walk the talk when it comes to sustainability.

Love was in the air… and in every donation chair. This week, our Chicago team rolled up their sleeves alongside our sister company, Equity Lifestyle Services, to donate blood with the Red Cross. With 11 first-time donors in the mix, it was inspiring to see teammates step outside their comfort zones for something bigger than themselves. Sometimes showing up for your community really is as simple as lending an arm. ❤️

A moment at work can change everything. A meeting where your idea got lifted up. A stretch opportunity that came because someone vouched for you. A manager who spoke up for you when you weren’t in the room. And there are moments that do the opposite. When an idea is overlooked. When credit gets fuzzy. When sponsorship is uneven. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s many contributions, and a reminder that the struggle is not over. Women have shaped history, culture, science, communities, and workplaces, often without equal credit or equal access. Progress is real, but it isn’t evenly felt, and women continue to face barriers to opportunity, recognition, and being fully seen and valued. In the workplace, progress takes intention. Without it, the same patterns repeat: women being talked over, credited late, overlooked for stretch opportunities, questioned for expertise, or left carrying “invisible work” that keeps teams running. This year’s Women’s History Month theme is Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future, and March 8 is International Women’s Day. When women thrive, we all rise.
