Project Spotlight: West Crescent Fire District Addition & Renovation H2M is currently in construction administration for the addition-renovation project for the West Crescent Fire District in Halfmoon, NY. The existing fire station, designed by H2M’s Director of Emergency Services Market, Dennis Ross, AIA in 1995, needed to be reconfigured to conform with the latest NFPA requirements for firefighters’ health and safety. The $3 million project includes a new entry vestibule and reconfigured interior space within the existing station to accommodate a new turnout gear room and decontamination room. The District also required additional storage areas to accommodate the reconfiguration. A new 6,000 SF steel storage building was designed to accommodate their storage needs. Additional features include an open air pavilion which will be available for District and community events, a training facility area with a 15,000 gallon underground water for pump truck training, concrete pad areas with a ConEx box to train on interiors and roof rescues, a burn station and car extraction/rescue areas.

It’s #WHYILOVEH2M Wednesday! Meet H2M architects + engineers’ Zachary Spoering (Zach)! Zach is a Project Scientist in the Environmental Discipline at the new Troy office! His main focus is providing environmental consulting services. For Zach, no day is the same and his job varies between working on environmental design in office and going out in the field to perform sampling at waste sites. Zach enjoys being a part of the safety committee here at H2M and ensures all team members are following safety protocols. We asked Zach how H2M impacted his life and he told us, "H2M has been supportive of my professional and personal growth. A great example of this is H2M's tuition assistance program which was a valuable resource that helped me in my endeavors to continue my education. I value the relationships I have with other H2M'ers and can say that over my time spent with this company I have made many friends and met many knowledgeable people within the H2M team.” #projectscientist #H2M #engineer #career #environment #design #development
