The other week, Kelly Backhouse and Lee Johnson from the Iglu training team visited City of Portsmouth College to talk to Travel & Tourism students studying Travel Agency Operations. This was a fantastic opportunity to share valuable insights and information about the industry and what we do. Kelly and Lee shared "We recently had the fantastic opportunity to deliver a lecture at Portsmouth College, sharing the exciting world of cruising holidays with their Travel & Tourism students. We eagerly embraced the chance to educate the next generation about the numerous benefits and experiences a cruise can offer. We were thrilled to spread the great news about cruising holidays to aspiring professionals in the travel and tourism industry. Overall, it was a highly rewarding experience, and we believe we successfully ignited a passion for cruising holidays within the next generation of travel and tourism professionals at Portsmouth College. We are optimistic that our insights will help them guide future clients toward unforgettable cruise adventures. The City of Portsmouth College said: "It was a pleasure to have Kelly and Lee visit the other week, especially given the short notice. We received very positive feedback from the students, who appreciated the insights shared. We also discussed the possibility of arranging a visit to your training centre after September (next academic year), which they are very enthusiastic about." #lovewhatwedo
Today's #prideambassadortakeover is by Mark: "I returned to Iglu in 2021 — and that decision alone speaks volumes. Over the past four years, I’ve grown both personally and professionally in ways I hadn’t imagined possible. Iglu has supported me every step of the way, allowing me to develop into the role I’m in today — without prejudice or barriers, something I sadly experienced in past workplaces. One of the things I value most is being able to show up as my authentic self every day. As a Pride Ambassador, I’ve been given a platform to encourage open and honest conversations around the LGBTQ+ community, helping raise awareness and drive understanding of the challenges we face. I’m proud to work for a company that truly lives its values — not just during Pride Month, but all year round. 🏳️🌈" Lovely words Mark Burke! Everyone at Iglu has so enjoyed these wonderful takeover posts so much. #PrideAtWork #IgluPride #InclusionMatters #LGBTQ #AuthenticityAtWork #LifeAtIglu
"When I first joined Iglu, I was unsure: do I mention I'm gay or not? Do I keep quiet about who I am as a person, or do I casually drop it into a conversation with my team during our daily morning catch-ups? My team leader, Rob, was like, "What did you all get up to at the weekend?" And here was my chance, my "do I or don't I" moment. I just dropped in, "Me and my girlfriend went out on a date in Manchester." His response was priceless: "Hope you weren't too hungover!" In that moment, I knew I had made the right decision – that I was working for a company who didn't mind what my sexuality was! In the last five years since I joined Iglu, it's been great to see how much Iglu has done to make sure we are recognised and celebrated. Since we set up the Pride Ambassadors, we have been able to tell our stories and share the history of what Pride stands for. We've had various fun quizzes, and by sharing the Pride colours on our internal company system, it shows we are recognised and supported by Iglu. My role as an ambassador involves regular get-togethers with other ambassadors. We get to have open and great chats with like-minded people, and we get to show the rest of the company what we have to offer and how we raise awareness with our colleagues. We then get to share this on our internal system where all of Iglu can see." Lovely words Berni, thank you for sharing! #prideambassadortakover #PrideAtWork #lovewhatwedo #IgluPride #InclusionMatters #LGBTQ #AuthenticityAtWork
For this week's #prideambassadortakeover Richard Limburn-Boucher talks about his role at Iglu: "From my very first day at Iglu in 2022, I knew it was different. What really struck me was how incredibly supportive everyone was, which meant a lot to me as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Iglu doesn't just talk about being inclusive—they really live it. It’s not just policies, but a real culture where people genuinely care. This support shows up everywhere, proving how Iglu values us as people. Being a Pride Ambassador has let me make a bigger impact on LGBTQ+ conversations here, creating a space for learning and support, helping everyone to feel more connected. Getting involved, I've seen firsthand how Iglu's dedication makes a place where we all feel valued and can be ourselves. Plus, Iglu really goes all out for Pride Month, with a variety of events and activities showing they truly support & celebrate the LGBTQ+ community." Powerful words Rich, and thanks for your work as a Pride Ambassador! #PrideAtWork #IgluPride #InclusionMatters #LGBTQ #AuthenticityAtWork #LifeAtIglu #lovewhatwedo
As part of our #pridemonth celebrations at Iglu.com we asked our Pride Ambassadors to let us know how they feel about working here. In our first of these #prideambassadortakeover posts Sarah Jones talks about her experience: "I always thought when people say 'it feels like family' where they work it was a cliche, until I joined Iglu. 8 years down the line, Iglu continues to be the most supportive and connected place to work. Everyone is always looking after one another and everyone has a genuine sense of belonging. We celebrate each others' successes, lift each other up through challenges all whilst knowing you are completely valued as your true self. As a pride ambassador, Iglu have given me the platform to encourage open conversations around LGBTQ+ topics, advocate for inclusive practices and policies and continue fostering the safe space we work in, not only through Pride Month but consistently. " Lovely words Sarah 😁 #PrideAtWork #IgluPride #InclusionMatters #LGBTQ #AuthenticityAtWork #LifeAtIglu #putpeoplefirst
