Wow - we did it!! We've been named in the Sunday Times 'Best Places to Work' list and we couldn't be prouder of the whole team. The criteria for measurement included: Job satisfaction, wellbeing, empowerment, information sharing, instilling pride, reward & recognition. This is another huge achievement following on from our Pet Industry Federation award for 'Best Pet Retailer' at the end of 2023, and the 'Retail Week' award earlier this year for Best Retailer (under £250m t/o). We are delighted to announce Jollyes Half year results. Our total sales have risen 31% with our LFL stores growing 19% for the first half of the financial year. This performance has been driven by an increase in transactions and basket sizes with pet parents across the country flocking to our stores for fantastic value and service which is helping us to deliver a sector leading Trustpilot review of 4.7 stars. We have added 8 new stores to the Jollyes pack, Swindon, Belfast (Boucher Road), Merthyr Tydfil, Harrogate, Widnes, Swadlincote, Reading and Hull now bringing a total of 98 stores nationwide. This hard work was recently recognised when we were named Pet Industry Federation Retail Chain of the Year 2023 by the Pet Industry Federation (PIF) and shortlisted for best retailer under £250m and specialty retailer of the year in the upcoming 2024 Retail Week awards. An exciting day for Jollyes as we officially launch our Christmas 2023 Campaign. We know Christmas is a magical time for our customers and our campaign aims to show how pets make the season even more magical. Our research shows 74% of customer think Christmas is more enjoyable when there is a pet around, 75% of pet owners buy their pet gift and 60% buy a gift for someone else’s pets. So we have recreated a series of moments throughout the festive period to give customers inspiration about how to include their furry friend! We want pets and their parents across the UK to have a Holly Jollyes Christmas and we want to show our customers how they can treat their pets for less
Happy International Groomer's Day! One of our company values is being “wise. Our expert groomers are a great example of colleagues who “know their stuff” and always ensure that our customers pets are well looked after and always looking amazing. So at Jollyes it’s not just the pets who get treats. Today every colleague in our grooming business has received a treat, recognising their hard work and effort as a gesture from the entire business of how much we appreciate them!
On Saturday we launched the latest Jollyes store in Swadlincote. The store was officially opened by the Mayor and also Harleys Hounds Animal Rescue who carry out vital work across the midlands to rescue abused, unwanted and abandoned animals. We also got into the Halloween spirit, supporting Swadlincote’s annual Spookfest and having some fun of our own including the introduction of our new Jollyes mascot! A huge thank you to Natalie, our Store Manager Lavinia and the entire Jollyes team who have helped to make the store such a success and also as ever our amazing supplier partners!
On Saturday the bells chimed as we opened Jollyes in Widnes. We ran a competition with the local paper to find a customer to “marry” their pet and win a “doggie-moon” as part of the grand opening. The happy couple were Jackson the Labrador and owner Bobby Daniels and they were joined by The Mayor and Consort of Halton, Councillor Val Hill and Councillor Stan Hill to officially open the store. Joining us at the store was charity Carla Lane Animals in Need who were raising money for their charity. The new store has a Community Pet Clinic, a Jolly Groomer and a Raw Store. A huge thank you to the entire team at Widnes and across the business, and of course as ever our amazing supplier partners who all help to launch the store.
Last Friday we officially opened Jollyes in Harrogate. The store was officially opened by The Stray Ferret competition winner Alan the Dachshund who along with his owner Dawn cut the opening ribbon before their competition prize a "doggy trolley dash" around the new store. The opening also included charity partner Harrogate Cat Rescue, a live broadcast from Your Harrogate Radio and the return of Felix the Cat. A huge thank you to all of our amazing colleagues and supplier partners who ensure that our new stores land so successfully!
We’re delighted to announce we have been have been shortlisted for 2 awards by Pet Industry Federation (PIF). Jollyes is up for Pet Retail Chain of the Year and also Jane Gower our Manager in Dartford has been shortlisted for Pet Store Manager of the Year. A fantastic achievement for the business and fingers crossed for a win at the awards in November
On Saturday we officially our 93rd Jollyes in Merthyr Tydfil. The store was opened by Dreygo, a dragon with a huge 15-feet wingspan, smoke-breathing nostrils, and his Welsh Wizard owner. Joining Dreygo was Merthyr County Borough Council new Mayor Councillor Malcolm Colbran and regeneration cabinet member Michelle Symonds and her dog Milo who declared the store open by biting through a string of sausages. The store has a Jolly Groomer, a Community Pet Clinic and a Raw Store. A huge thank you to Samantha Wells and the whole team who have launched the store, our customers loved it! And a huge thank you to all of our supplier partners who help to launch the store.
