A message from Alia Hawa, Managing Director L’Occitane UK & Ireland: “All of us in the UK & Ireland have been deeply saddened and shocked following the death of George Floyd. We have communicated on our social media platforms our solidarity to the black community, but we want to go beyond Instagram showing a stronger level of support to the cause. We will be donating to an organisation which deals with the urgent topic of violence and criminal injustice involving black youth. I am personally committed to following up on this incredibly important topic, while building an inclusive, diverse and tolerant workplace that welcomes individuals from different backgrounds, ethnicities, religions or sexual orientation, and where everyone is valued and has a chance to succeed. L’OCCITANE has RESPECT as a core pillar, as well as supporting communities as part of one of its core values. We condemn racism or any discriminatory behavior. I hope that these events will help our generation to make positive and long lasting steps towards an equal, tolerant and peaceful world.”
It's been a while so we thought we'd share a great example of how we work with a “one team” mentality at L’Occitane! Jonathan, Boutique Manager of Bluewater, and Jenny, Boutique Manager of Chelmsford, have both been supporting our incredible Warehouse Team in Beckton during the period of store closures. Here's what they had to say about their experience; JONATHAN – “When I learned that the Warehouse was looking for some support as the website was receiving over 2000 orders daily, my instant thought was that I needed to step up and support as we are one big team!” JENNY – “I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn more about an aspect of the business I am unfamiliar with. I feel very lucky to have been able to contribute in a small way to help keep the company working.” To all the Warehouse Team, THANK YOU - it’s been a great experience and we hope we have helped!
Here at L’Occitane we are getting used to our new ways of working and now that we’ve settled into our new routine, we wanted to share with you some of the fun ways we’re staying in touch with each other! Last week, as one of the many activities we recommended, we encouraged people to share their smoothie recipes and here you’ll see Lucy O’Connor, Head Office PA, enjoying her creation in the sunshine (recipe available on request!). Lucy also celebrates her 1 year work anniversary with us today and here’s what she said when the team sent her their anniversary wishes…“Thank you so much, it’s been an amazing year. I honestly couldn’t have wished for a better company to work for. Joining the “world of corporate” was so daunting a year ago and I have never felt more welcome. I am so proud to work for such an amazing brand with incredible values and wonderful people!” We may not be physically together at the moment but we continue to keep the L’Occitane family energised and connected!
We are so proud to announce that L’OCCITANE has launched an enhanced global parental leave policy to support families during such an important stage in their lives as well as promoting equal opportunities for all employees. The new policy gives individuals on maternity leave a minimum of 20 weeks’ fully paid leave and those on paternity leave a minimum of 12 weeks’ fully paid leave, to bond with their new child. This will apply to L’OCCITANE employees worldwide – throughout its offices, factories and owned retail stores – whether the child is welcomed by birth, adoption or surrogacy. We will begin implementing the policy from April in our global headquarters in Switzerland, the UK from 1st April 2021, with the full global roll-out across all countries set to be completed by April 2022. This is an amazing initiative that fosters positive change and truly puts our people at the heart of all that what we do! #Itstimetochange #EachforEqual #DoingNotTrying #GenderBalance

We are so proud to be named one of Ireland’s Great Place’s To Work after being accredited for the 5th time in a row! This is an incredible achievement in itself but on top of this, L’OCCITANE were the only retailer in our category, having far exceeded the accreditation threshold. We are so proud of our incredible team for making this achievement possible. From everyone at L’OCCITANE, we want to thank Team Ireland for all your efforts, hard work and commitment - you truly are the ones who make this such a Great Place To Work! #Bestworkplaces20 #Greatplacetowork #GPTW #Ireland
For the seventh year, the L’OCCITANE UK PR team created and sent out a Christmas Gift to thank key Journalists, VIPs and Influencers for their continued support throughout the year. Each recipient received a Christmas card opening up into a 3D tree to represent the tree we planted in each of their names. The card was made from fully recyclable card and seed paper a nod to our commitments. The card spoke about our commitment to the environment and explained that for each post shared socially, L’OCCITANE would donate a further £25 in their name to PUR Projet. Very proud of our PR team for all of their hard work and looking forward to doing more fantastic initiatives like this, to support our planet however we can!
A huge round of applause and congratulations to our award winning Customer Care team! Our fantastic team won the BEST in the E Retailers Sector for 2019 at the Top 50 Customer Service Awards. This week L’Occitane announced the creation of a fund to support ecosystems that are severely affected by natural disasters, such as the devastating fires in the Amazon and Australia. Determined to protect biodiversity for future generations, the L’Occitane Ecosystem Restoration Fund aims to respond to environmental disasters as they unfold.
