30 of our Loss Prevention team embarked on a mega challenge to climb Ben Nevis, Snowdon or Scafell Pike for Children with Cancer UK to support their friend and colleague Deborah. Deborah was recently diagnosed with cancer and has undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The good news the prognosis is positive! To raise money in Deb's name, they decided to complete the 3 Peaks challenge, but with a slight twist. They split into three groups and simultaneously climbed each mountain. When every team had reached the top they held a department video call! 🎥 What a fantastic effort by this team ❤️
A couple of weeks ago we welcomed a new store to our retail portfolio. Isn't it beautiful? 😍 Check out our post below to see our new store in Newbury. Last year we added Victoria's Secret beauty and clothing range to our growing branded offering 🙌🛍 In May 2021, our warehouse team began to pick and pack Victoria's Secret orders from our warehouse site in Doncaster 🥳 They threw a PINK-inspired launch event, which is very apt! The launch event involved goodie bags, cake, competitions and prizes 🛍
🏳️🌈 June is Pride Month! 🏳️🌈 At Next, Pride is a huge part of our culture. We can't celebrate in large groups, but we can still celebrate Pride. As lockdown is easing, we want to unlock Pride, because being together is a HUGE part of the LGBT+ community 🧡 We will be encouraging staff and customers alike, to celebrate and feel part of a community throughout June, and even have some special stuff planned towards the end of the month.
We're marking Earth Day 2021 with a brand new sustainable fashion collection. Our two designers from Next, Tom and Kim have had big roles in developing the Mr Blue Sky menswear range. It's our most sustainable and responsibly sourced range yet. In the video you'll hear what's gone into making the Next menswear range, that launches in May 2021. Kim who is an Assistant Designer on menswear has been driving force behind this range and has a huge passion for protecting the planet and sustainability.
End Of Year Results have been announced! Extraordinary effort and dedication of colleagues across the business. From warehouses to stores, through our head office departments, contact centres to our overseas sourcing offices; people have worked tirelessly to support the business in the face of unprecedented challenges. Without exception, every part of the business understood the situation we were in and faced up to its challenges with hard work, innovation, teamwork, and a (mostly!) cheerful determination to make sure their part of the business got through. Whilst the company had many advantages going into the pandemic, it has been the endeavours and ideas of colleagues that have proven to be our greatest asset; and it has been their collective commitment that allows us to go into the year ahead with the prospect of heading back to the levels of sales and profitability we delivered in 2019/20. BIG news! We have agreed the terms of a deal to acquire a 25% indirect interest in Reiss. This is through the acquisition of shares from existing shareholders, in the holding company of the Reiss business. Next will make an equity investment of £33m and a debt investment of £10m, financed from our own cash resources. Under the terms of the agreement, Next has an option to acquire an additional 26% interest at pre-agreed terms which, if exercised, would take Next's holding to 51%. The option falls away after July 2022. Simon Wolfson, Next Chief Executive said: “Reiss is an outstanding brand with enormous potential and a first class management team. We are excited to see what can be achieved through the combination of Reiss’s exceptional product, marketing and brand building skills with Next’s Total Platform infrastructure.” Reiss’s websites and Online operations, both in the UK and overseas, will be contracted to Next through Total Platform. It is anticipated Reiss will go live on Next Total Platform in February 2022.
