NATIONAL APPRENTICE WEEK! Get, Grow and Keep #skills for life. We're thrilled to offer apprenticeships for all at NHS Property Services, giving everyone the chance to gain, enhance and maintain skills for life. We genuinely care about our colleagues' well-being and believe in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. We're immensely proud of our apprenticeship program, having over 125 apprentices covering an impressive 21 different areas, benefiting both personal and professional development. We're committed to continuing to explore new opportunities for our fantastic colleagues to grow and learn. This year, we've had our first achievements in various specialties, including Chef Production, Facilities Services, Plumbing and Domestic Heating, and Senior Leader. And we're excited to have several colleagues starting their apprenticeship journey, including Data Science, Chartered Surveyor, Customer Service Practitioner, and even a graduate solicitor at level 7. We truly believe that education is an excellent vehicle for social mobility and pledge to keep supporting all of our colleagues throughout their career at NHSPS.
We've smashed our target to raise £150,000 for our charity partner, Young Lives vs Cancer! Over the course of 2.5 years, a remarkable total of 2,500 colleagues got involved, challenging themselves and getting creative to fundraise for our target of £150,000 for our charity partner, Young Lives vs Cancer. The incredible amount of money raised will have a direct impact on the lives of more than 800 children, young people, and their families who are facing the challenges of cancer. Their efforts will provide over 2,000 nights of free accommodation in the Young Lives vs Cancer Homes from Home, offering a much-needed respite during their treatments. Everyone involved should be immensely proud of the difference they have made through their hard work and determination. Their fundraising efforts have ensured that Young Lives vs Cancer can continue to provide crucial support to those who need it most. We want to say a huge thank you to every colleague, family, and friend that got involved by making a donation, or challenging themselves to help raise funds for Young Lives vs Cancer's incredible Homes from Home.
6th November '23 was the day we officially kicked off our Careers Month at NHS Property Services. Over the month, we held a range of sessions to help our colleagues get the most out of their careers. We started the month off with a fantastic session from Amazing If focusing on building career confidence, followed by an insightful panel discussion with some of our Executive Team who shared their career journeys and talked about some of the challenges they've faced with their career and confidence. During the second week, we shone a spotlight on each function within NHSPS. Colleagues from different roles shared their unique and squiggly career stories, providing valuable insight for those interested in exploring a particular function. The third week was all about personal growth, featuring interactive webinars on topics such as building a personal brand, enhancing emotional intelligence, optimising professional profiles, and enhancing their CV writing and interview skills. We were also excited to host a range of wellbeing sessions and "career clinics." These sessions aimed to foster open and honest conversations among colleagues about their aspirations and how to achieve them and any challenges they may be facing. In the final week, we held sessions to help our managers to support their teams career development from how and when to have career conversations to how to spot potential talent within their teams. It was a brilliant month and cant wait for next years!
In a first-of-its kind partnership, we’ve joined forces with ‘Campaign to End Loneliness’ to deliver training to our receptionist colleagues across the country to enable them to support patients showing signs of loneliness. Loneliness has significant impact on both mental and physical health of the individual and those around them. Did you know that around 1 in 4 people reported feeling lonely either often or at least some of the time during the COVID-19 pandemic? The training offered will focus on equipping our receptionists with knowledge about the key risk factors of loneliness, identifying and supporting people at risk, and self-care 💙
