Across our global offices, we have greater opportunities waiting for you right now. Next up in our series, where we showcase some of our global offices, is Melbourne. Take a look and see what life at Northern Trust Melbourne looks like.
Week three of our global month of volunteering, Achieving Greater Together, has come and gone. We had so many highlights globally with all of our teams working alongside many more great organizations.
From day one, we make a promise to our graduates, our interns and our early-career employees: They will work on important projects, network with leaders and develop skills to jumpstart their careers. We will help them learn today so they can lead tomorrow. Hear from some of our graduates and interns about life at Northern Trust, their experience so far, what they've learnt and why you should consider Northern Trust.
To highlight the importance of storytelling and normalization of speaking about mental health experiences, we asked some of our employees to share their mental wellbeing journey. ❤️ #WorldMentalHealthDay
Achieving Greater Together, our signature month of global volunteerism has officially launched 🥳 #NTGivesBack
Dedication to a more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. This #HispanicHeritageMonth, we are proud to support and celebrate our Latino/Hispanic employees through our Latin Heritage Leadership Council programs. This employee-led resource group provides tools and resources to support our inclusive work environment with diverse set of cultures rich in traditions and values.
This week was an important one for our colleagues in Switzerland where they held the official opening of our new office in Basel. They welcomed Pete Cherecwich, President of Asset Servicing, Toby Glaysher, President Global Fund Services and Carl Tannenbaum, Northern Trust Chief Economist to the grand opening.
Want a fun fact about Northern Trust? When Labor Day was Moving Day On Sept. 1, 1906 (Labor Day in the United States), Northern Trust moved into its new banking house at 50 S. LaSalle St. in Chicago, our global headquarters today. The four-story building, vaults, and safe deposit facilities were more extensive than needed at the time—built with growth in mind.
Greater is … fitting in because of your differences. Last Friday, 26th August, our team in Australia celebrated #WearItPurple Day. This celebration helps to further awareness on the issues our young LGBTQ+ community face on a daily basis. One of the highlights of the event, organized by our Northern Trust Pride Business Resource Council (BRC), was an awareness session that covers the intersectionality of LGBTQ+ and indigenous people, working families, as well as women. What made the event even more meaningful was a cash donation of AUD 5000, on behalf of The Northern Trust Philanthropic Committee, and additional local fundraising to Minus18, an organisation that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of, and provide a safe environment for, LGBTQ+ youth.
We are at the end of the summer and that means we say goodbye to our summer interns who joined our global offices over the past few months. They have left their mark on us, and we would like to take this final opportunity to say thank you to them all. We would also like to wish them the very best of luck as many of them head back to their final year in college. Here’s a handful of final day pics from our interns in Tempe, Chicago and Limerick.
