Here are your weekly insights from Viacom’s Talent Acquisition team! This week, Essence Dashtaray, Talent Acquisition Manager, offers insights on Viacom’s internship application process. Q: What do you look for in an intern candidate’s resume? A: We look for a range of different academic and internship experiences – it’s not one size fits all. This includes media/entertainment experience, relevant coursework, leadership or involvement with on campus organizations and volunteer experience. Having previous internships is a plus, but if candidates haven’t had any prior internships, that’s fine too. Be sure to highlight any transferable experience and speak to that in the interview. Q: What really makes a student stand out during the interview process? A: When we’re interviewing, we hear a lot of similar responses about candidates growing up watching our shows, but a student immediately stands out when they’re up to date on our current trends and content. It’s always a plus when candidates mention a recent article they’ve read and note how it ties back to Viacom.
