Here are your weekly insights from Viacom’s Talent Acquisition team. This week, Michael Pitta , our lead tech recruiter, offers insights on working in a tech role at an entertainment company. Q: Where is Viacom hiring tech talent? A: Viacom is a global company, which is exciting. We have offices and development centers not just in the U.S., but also in our European offices. Our heavy recruitment for software engineering is in Warsaw, Poland. Our engineers at these offices work on projects with a worldwide presence. You’re not just working on something that impacts U.S. customers; you’re working on projects that could impact someone in the UK, or one of our Asian country affiliates. Q: Any specific roles that you are hiring for? A: There currently are a lot of software engineer positions available in Warsaw. Outside of Warsaw, some of the big things we’re recruiting for are Cloud and System Engineers. People in these roles solve challenging technical problems with great visibility.

Here are your weekly insights from Viacom’s Talent Acquisition team. This week, Michael Pitta, our lead tech recruiter, offers insights on working in a tech role at an entertainment company. Q: What is unique about working in tech at an entertainment company? A: Some of the toughest technical problems are media related. For example, building a high-quality video player that starts up quickly while thousands of people are accessing it. For anyone that likes solving challenging puzzles, we have that here. Q: We know San Francisco is the current hotspot for tech talent. What are some benefits to pursuing a tech career in a different city? A: San Francisco is great because there are a lot of tech companies there, but you’ll often find yourself being one of thousands of engineers at a major tech company. Our engineering teams are much leaner, which means you’ll have a bigger chance of making an impact. We’ve recruited people from large tech companies, and they all say the same thing: Here, they don’t feel like just a number. Here, they feel they’ve made an impact.

"One of my favorite things about Distribution is our team’s spirit. I’ve always been an athlete. I played basketball and was a swimmer growing up. More recently, I’ve done half-marathons, triathlons, and completed my first full marathon this fall. I’ve always had a competitive spirit and love being part of a team. Whether we are problem-solving with clients, pitching content, or closing deals, Distribution gets it done together and with a winning energy. Communication, collaboration, and celebratory emails are the norm. We do everything as a team and our infectious energy anchors me to always think about how I can add value to our clients and to Viacom. What’s special to me is that I get to do this for the same brands I used to run home to watch after practice.” -Denise Bailey-Castro, Director, Distribution & Business Development
