"I have such a vivid memory of my first day at Viacom. It was October 1st, 1998 and I was an account manager in our affiliate sales and marketing group in Chicago. We had a meeting on the calendar that day where the VH1 marketing team was coming in from New York, which was considered a big deal. I remember the head of marketing - who I later went on to work for at some point - came in and she said, ‘You guys are all going to the taping of John Mellencamp’s Storytellers tonight.’ I remember calling my girlfriend at the time, who is now my wife, and saying ‘I think I’m really going to like this job. I’m going to a Storytellers taping on my first day of work.’ I’ve been to a million things since then. I think it’s very easy to get jaded to the access you have to these kinds of events, but when you actually go and you see across our brands how we put on these amazing events, you’re not jaded at all. You feel lucky and blessed to be a part of such an amazing organization. That’s just part of your job." - Michael D. Armstrong, General Manager, BET Networks (a subsidiary of Viacom Inc.)
