Here are your weekly insights from Viacom's Talent Acquisition team. This week we hear from Lisa Buch, VP of TA at Paramount. Q: What advice do you have for people just starting out in the industry? A: When you're in college, try to do an internship. That's the perfect way to get a foot in the door. At Paramount, we have a page program for folks who want to get some film experience. A page might give tours for their first six months. Once they've gone through that stage, they might cover an executive’s desk for three weeks. If that goes well, we might hire them in that role or find another opportunity. It's a great way to get a sense of how the studio works. Q: Is the page program an alternative to starting out at an agency like CAA or UTA? A: Right. Let’s face it, that environment isn’t for everyone. We’ve built our recruiting process to ensure that pages have access to great opportunities and don't have to go through the agency route.
