"Data centres are unique beasts, and you have to look for more than experience to find the right leader,” says Tim Walton, head of digital infrastructure for global organisational consulting firm, Korn Ferry in EMEA. It’s no surprise that the Korn Ferry team spoke to our CEO Dame Dawn Childs DBE FREng on this topic. With a career spanning the military, aviation, energy and more, Dame Dawn’s expertise means she was perfectly placed to take on a leadership role in the data centre industry. As the sector accelerates, leadership that can scale with it is non-negotiable. At Pure DC, with a leadership team that consists of both external hires and homegrown leaders, we’re proud to be setting that standard.

Did you know that a single Google search can power a 60-Watt lightbulb for an hour? Searches on AI apps can use nearly 3 times that much. As generative AI continues to shape our world, one thing has become clear: the energy demands associated with AI are staggering. For a connected world to become a reality, clean, cost-effective energy is key. Hear more from our CEO, Dame Dawn Childs DBE FREng, from her keynote speech at Data Centre Magazine's Data Centre LIVE event on how leveraging AI to help modernise aging grids can help unlock a more sustainable future while meeting the growing demands of the digital age. hashtag#AI hashtag#Sustainability hashtag#DataCentres hashtag#PurePotential
We’re very proud that Pure DC's Abu Dhabi data centre (AUH01) won ‘Digital Infrastructure Deal of the Year’ in the IJ Global Awards (MENA) for 2024. The award recognised the first phase of the hyperscale data centre campus in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. SMBC Group was the sole underwriter on the full financing package for AUH01. Pure DC’s AUH01 campus is the first international developer hyperscale DC in region. Our thanks to SMBC for its partnership in constructing the deal and to IJGlobal for the recognition. Since the deal, teams at Pure DC, along with our partners, have been hard at work bringing this project to life. Last month we went live with the on-schedule delivery of phase 1 of the AUH01 campus https://lnkd.in/e7xMk9p4 Dame Dawn Childs DBE FREng Bill Davis Steffen Zimmermann hashtag#datacentre hashtag#digitalinfrastructure hashtag#PureProgress
A great day with Earthwatch Europe planting 3 urban tiny forests in Barnet. It’s exciting that A Healthier Earth and Pure Data Centres Group have been key to making this happen. Pure has provided the funding and we have provided the trees, the biochar and the scientific methodology. The engagement with the community and having 4 local schools come and also help plant trees today was great to see. Excited for our next partnership between A Healthier Earth and Earthwatch Europe. Finally, thanks to Barnet Council and Barnet Mayor Councillor Tony Vourou for working with us to make this happen and putting forward the land for us to work with. The weather was also fantastic!
A must-watch for anyone interested in the forces driving transformation across the data centre industry. From energy innovation and sustainability to the scalability challenges of AI, our CEO Dame Dawn Childs DBE FREng unpacks the trends shaping digital infrastructure — and what it will take to keep up with rising demand. In this interview from the recent TMT World Congress with Chanté B. from TMT Finance, Dame Dawn also shares the inside track on where Pure is looking to expand, the value of our partnerships and joint ventures such as that with Dune Vaults, and how we’re working to be part of the solution to unlock constrained markets and contribute to a green grid. Pure DC’s Abu Dhabi datacentre (AUH01) opens... Yesterday marked the culmination of a great partnership and hard work across Pure Data Centres Group, Laing O Rourke Construction and many other partners with the on-schedule opening of Pure DC AUH01. This milestone is Pure DC’s first project going live in the Middle East - a major step in expanding our presence and capabilities in this dynamic and fast-growing region. Hosted by the Pure DC Abu Dhabi team, the event brought together key stakeholders who played a vital role in this achievement. We were honoured to welcome Pure DC CEO, Dame Dawn Childs DBE FREng, Campus Delivery Director, Steffen Zimmermann and Laing O'Rourke General Manager, Ben Nichol along with members of the project team, suppliers, and both local and global partners. The successful delivery of AUH01 is a result of outstanding collaboration, strong leadership, and the shared commitment of every individual and organisation involved. From planning through to handover, the focus on quality, safety, and innovation has set a new benchmark for data centre development in the region. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this achievement.
Why gamble on complex and expensive technologies when we have the proven solutions already found in nature? Alastair Collier, Chief R&D Officer at our climate tech R&D subsidiary A Healthier Earth, explores this question in his article for Maddyness. Find out how tech hyperscalers are driving the carbon removal market — and why it’s time to prioritise proven, scalable, nature-based solutions like biochar. At Pure DC, we’ve always believed that sustainability needs to be more than ambition — it needs action. That’s why we're investing in Europe's largest biochar production facility, as well as practical nature-based solutions like Tiny Forests. (ICMYI, we recently planted 1,800 in one day in the London Borough of Barnet!) As demand for digital infrastructure grows, the environmental responsibility grows with it. We’re proud to be part of a movement proving that high-performance data centres and bold climate action can go hand-in-hand.
