Canada Office News: On April 13, reigning champions SCOR once again entered the annual charity hockey tournament in Toronto, organized by local brokers HKMB Hub. The tournament has been running for the past fifteen years, with teams made up of players from inside and outside the (re)insurance industry. The Charity part of the tournament, with player and sponsor donations in support of United Way, allows the re/insurance industry in the region to collectively give back to help those in need. United Way focuses on building strong communities from within, concentrating on young people and giving them the opportunities they need to find meaningful employment. The SCOR team raised a total of CAD 950, making it the second biggest fund-raiser in the tournament. Regarding the tournament. SCOR played 4 games in total, winning all 4 and beating Zurich in the final with a score of SCOR 4 - Zurich 2. This makes SCOR the undefeated champions of the tournament in 2018!
SCOR is a committed sponsor of University of Hong Kong “Actuarial Corporate Mentorship Programme” which provides a platform for Actuarial Science Undergraduate freshman and sophomore students to gain access to members within the insurance and actuarial industry. This year 2 of our Hong Kong colleagues, Ken Cheung and Tony Ho, have volunteered to mentor 4 students. From Ireland: Today was Workplace wellbeing day here is Ireland,. We had a great day with a morning mindfulness session, a lunchtime walk or run, and an afternoon healthy juice break. (even a spot of teamwork to carry a colleague back who damaged ankle ligaments en-route before going on to complete the 5k circuit!)
