The positive impact of a menopause policy: Lessons from employers that are leading the way
Southeastern Railway are absolutely delighted to have won Top Employer at the Women in Rail Awards! Congratulations to everyone at Southeastern who’s helped us lead the way in creating such a fantastic working environment and improving gender diversity in the rail industry. In the past year we’ve supported the whole Southeastern team, both female and male, with initiatives that have made a genuine difference to our 4,300 colleagues: We’ve succeeded in our goal of recruiting far more women, including into driver roles. We’ve adjusted our HR policies to be fairer and more inclusive. Including updating parental leave arrangements, introducing a new fertility policy, and overhauling guidance on gender identity and domestic and workplace abuse. We’ve also introduced menopause awareness training for our colleagues.
National Inclusion Week: Lockdown keep-in-touch scheme 'was a form of respite'
Southeastern Railway are thrilled to be highly commended for the Great Place to Work category in the 2020 National Rail Awards. We have created a work environment that values the diversity of our colleagues and encourage all colleagues to bring their whole self to work in a safe environment. Throughout 2019, we overhauled our business of 4,300 colleagues to better reflect the diversity of its workforce. This included making structural changes at every level, supporting colleague networks and prioritising female retention. We have adjusted our HR policies to be fairer and more inclusive – making a real impact on men and women. This included re-addressing parental leave, introducing a fertility policy and overhauling guidance on gender identity and domestic and workplace abuse. #NationalRailAwards
