The Student Loans Company urges people to apply for 150 new roles in the North East. The organisation, which is based at Lingfield Point, has Customer Service roles available, supporting customers at various stages of their student finance journeys. Based within SLC’s Operations team, the jobs are central to processing maintenance loan applications for two million students each year and paying tuition fees to more than 600 higher education institutions. Successful candidates will receive a reward package including flexible working, access to the civil service pension scheme and a generous holiday entitlement. They will also benefit from SLC’s routes for progression, with opportunities to learn, develop and upskill. SLC has a blended approach to work, with colleagues spending time in the office and at home, so applications are being encouraged from across the North East.
We are recruiting 20 new apprenticeships in Darlington as we continue to grow our Emerging Talent programmes. The recruitment drive is being launched during #naw2022 and the first cohort of successful applicants will start their 18-month apprenticeship in April. The Apprenticeship Programme, which will be delivered in conjunction with Darlington College, will offer applicants Administrative Assistant roles in our Pre-Assessment department, which is central to the application process for almost two million new and returning #students each year. As well as being supported and developed by our colleagues, the apprentices will also spend one day a week at the college for off the job training. #naw2022 #buildthefuture For more information visit:

A group of 15 graduates who joined SLC this Autumn had the opportunity to meet with CEO Paula Sussex recently. During the virtual session each graduate gave a short presentation, outlining details of their background and education to date. Paula also asked them to share one key thing they had learned so far in their time with SLC. SLC’s graduate programme is a key part of our strategy to unlock potential and nurture the talent we need to fulfil our role of enabling student opportunity now and in the future. We currently have 29 graduates, working across the business who are all being supported to grow their expertise as part of a dynamic team. Speaking after the meeting Paula said: “At SLC we are committed to unlocking the potential of future generations and our latest graduate intake will play a critical role in enabling us to do so. Their energy and enthusiasm was fantastic. I look forward to seeing how their careers progress at SLC.”
