As part of our global Pride Month celebrations, the Berlin team brought the energy to the rooftop. Organised by Pride Club, our LGBTQ+ employee network and ally crew, the evening was all about visibility, joy, and community 🌈 With iconic beats by Yvonne Nightstand, local legend and Drag Race Germany season 1 finalist, we celebrated Pride in true SumUp style.
For the 4th year in a row, we've partnered with the NGO Generation to provide free tech education to unemployed young people in Brazil and Chile 🇧🇷🇨🇱 We're excited to welcome 84 students to this year's cohorts: 🇧🇷 Brazil 67% women 42% Black 24% LGBTQ+ 🇨🇱 Chile 52% women 15% migrants 30% LGBTQ+ 18% Indigenous For 3 months, these students will dive into a full-stack Java course, gaining the skills, confidence, and community to launch their tech careers.
This year, over 100 SumUppers came together at the historic Schloss Beesenstedt, a 19th-century manor in the German countryside, for another unforgettable Hack Week 🏰✨🇩🇪 With the theme “Money, Money, Money”, we challenged ourselves to think beyond innovation and focus on building solutions that deliver real, tangible value for our merchants 🚀

Overcoming obstacles tied to education and early parenthood takes more than ambition—it requires resilience, self-belief, and a strong sense of ownership. Ben Fenner, Global Head of IT at SumUp, became a father at 23 while trying to complete his education. With limited resources, he still found a way forward by taking the initiative and building a career rooted in helping others. Today, he leads with that same drive, proving that where you start doesn't have to define where you go.
