A day in the life of Ben O’Brien, Full Stack Engineer Prior to joining the company, Ben lived in Australia where he worked as a software engineer for a tech startup in communications & customer engagement. He made the move to London in June 2024 and worked in a hostel for six months before joining Vortexa. Fun fact: He plays the Ukulele and regularly flirts with the idea of playing at an open mic night.

Even so, Jack still loves ancient history and can’t wait for the new Nolan Odyssey movie.
What happens when you put oil & gas tech experts on a boat? 🛥️ An epic summer celebration that proves work and play go hand in hand! This summer, our annual Vortexa boat party sailed the Thames from Battersea to Canary Wharf, and it was nothing short of legendary. The highlights: 🎲 Jenga tournaments (unsurprisingly, very competitive!) 🍽️ Amazing buffet spread 🌊 Stunning Thames views There's something special about getting the whole crew together outside the office. Events like this remind us why company culture matters just as much as cutting-edge technology.
Our Singapore-based APAC team traded analytics dashboards for bowling lanes over the summer: ⚡️ Two fierce teams battling it out ⚡️ Three intense sets of strikes, spares, and friendly chat ⚡️ Plenty of laughs (and a few gutter balls) After conquering the lanes, they headed to one of Singapore's finest hotel buffets. The spread was incredible and everyone had an amazing time connecting over great food and shared victories.

Q&A with Pollyanna Hadley, Head of Financial Planning & Analysis Pollyanna joined Vortexa in January 2025 as a Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and is based from the London office. A day in the life of Wanying Zhang, Freight Analyst Wanying is a Freight Analyst at Vortexa, based in Singapore. She specialises in generating unique insights on fleet behaviour and analysing vessel movements to identify market shifts across clean and dirty trades in the East of Suez region. Prior to joining Vortexa, she spent three years as a Commercial Analyst with a shipowner. Fun fact: Wanying spent eight years as a kid playing the pipa and guzheng, two traditional Chinese string instruments, and can still make them sing.
