Throughout September, Welcome Break turned green in support of our charity partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support . Our dedicated team members and charity champions hosted Coffee Mornings and coffee tastings in our sites, hotels, and head office – creating memorable experiences for our team and customers, supporting a great cause. 🍰 The stories shared and the enthusiasm displayed by our world class team were truly inspiring. 💚 Every penny we raised through the Welcome Break Charitable Fund across September will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support, helping them continue their vital work.
Congratulations to our HiPo class of 2024 graduates! 👩🎓 HiPo is our development programme for high potential managers – equipping them with the knowledge and skills to help them progress on their leadership journey. 🚀 Over the last year, they’ve learnt more about coaching, emotional intelligence, and problem solving within leadership to enhance their skills and the culture around them. And their commitment to personal and professional development has been second to none! 💚 Today, our class of 2024 delivered their final presentations to our Senior Leadership Team, showing how they’ll take their learnings with them on their journey. ⭐
What a tee-rrific day! 🏌️♂️ Yesterday, we hosted our second annual Golf Day to raise money for our Welcome Break Charitable Fund. Our Senior Leadership Team were joined by some of our colleagues, suppliers, sponsors, and brand partners for a day of birdies and eagles on the golf course, with a Texas Scramble competition. Together, we raised c£10,000, which will go towards supporting our charity partners – Macmillan Cancer Support and National Emergencies Trust – with their vital work, alongside local community grants. Congratulations to Cold Developments Ltd on your victory! And a big thank you to Bethell Utility Services Limited and TNA Group Ltd for sponsoring our competition holes.
This week, we welcomed 12 new line managers to our brand-new, revamped Welcome Break Leader Academy. The engaging and informative three-day workshop gives our new managers the knowledge and skills to understand their role in leading people, setting them up for success. 🚀 Our People team delivered some brilliant sessions around our systems and platforms, HR for operational managers, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, communications, and performance management. We were also joined by Gary Steele and Adrian Grimes for a thought provoking SLT Q&A session. 💬 Good luck to all our new managers. We’re incredibly proud to have raised this money and be able to support Macmillan Cancer Support, who help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. Our world class team works hard to provide an exceptional experience for people on the move – even at our busiest times of the year! Our annual summer incentive programme ran over the last eight weeks to thank and reward our team members for maintaining our brilliant customer service standards when we’re at our peak. 💚 We’ve seen our team members truly live our values and work together to create a memorable experience for people on the move over the summer holidays, and we’re rewarding them with a big end-of-summer bash! They also took the time to recognise each other’s hard work, with over 1,200 batons passed in our weekly team member recognition relay race. 🥇 Now, as we come to the end of summer, it’s time for our teams to get together and celebrate their achievements! 🎊
