What exactly sets Glassdoor apart from other companies? It’s not just our amazing mission, or our dog-friendly offices, or our flexible paid time off, or our competitive salaries, or our top-tier benefits and perks (although those certainly don’t hurt!). One of the prime reasons to apply to Glassdoor is because of the career currency that our company offers.

Essentially, as a late-stage startup, Glassdoor offers you the security and infrastructure of a more mature company, but the ability to take ownership and make a tangible impact. Because of that, Glassdoor is able to provide new and unique opportunities to grow your career that many others simply can’t. And this is doubly true at Glassdoor’s London and Dublin offices, where these relatively new offices are experiencing unprecedented momentum as they expand Glassdoor’s global footprint.

But don’t take our word for it — read on to see what a couple of current ‘Glassdoorians’ have to say about the career currency that Glassdoor offers, and apply to some of our open positions below!

Glassdoor: What's your role and team? What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

Liz Hajjar: I am Director of SMB, New Biz. My team is made up of about 40 Account Executives, 14 Senior Account Executives, and eight managers. On a day-to-day basis, we work with companies to determine if Glassdoor is the right solution for their recruiting needs, develop our sales skills, and work together as a team to have fun and win.

Marie Sam: I work as a sales strategist. Daily day-to-day items to take care of can vary. A great deal of my role involves assisting sales reps in unravelling complexities that may arise when a company is looking to partner in the most effective way possible with Glassdoor. Complexities can come up when companies have a global presence or have numerous subsidiary divisions they are looking to brand. Laying profiles out in a way that makes sense to users so that we can optimise candidate traffic is key. On top of that, I deal with all things involving user-generated content on the site and work with Account Execs, CS, and Account Managers to develop talk tracks for questions involving content on our site, and/or I'll join in-person or telephonic meetings with reps.

Glassdoor: Have you always been in this team at Glassdoor, or have you moved across departments or offices?

Liz Hajjar: I have been at Glassdoor for almost six years, and have been in the sales department the entire time. I started as an Account Executive and have had four other positions in between becoming a Director of SMB New Biz at the beginning of 2016. I worked out of the Mill Valley office for four of those years, but at the beginning of 2016, I was asked to be the head of Chicago and help build the Glassdoor Chicago office. In a matter of seven quick months, we had moved three times and grew from 14 to 135 employees. Chicago grew quickly and there is an amazing bunch out there. Why I made the move? Sometimes I wonder if I was sane at the time, but the best thing about Glassdoor is how they push you to grow and learn — some of my biggest motivators. I was honored the opportunity came up, and was excited for the challenge and to bring the Glassdoor culture to Chicago with a CHI spin. In 2016, I learned a lot about many different parts of the business as well as opening a new office.

Marie Sam: I have not always worked in my current role. This was a recent move as of a few months ago, but I had heard of this role potentially opening nearly a year and a half ago and I knew I wanted to apply for it once the job posted. I made the move because I have a passion for sales, but wanted to move away from direct sales since I spent nearly ten years working in sales on the B2B and B2C level. It was time for a change, and this newly developed position allowed for me to learn new skills and interface with different departments than I normally worked with daily. I had some ideas of what I felt this role would look like and I pitched these ideas to our hiring team and our department head... the rest is history.

Glassdoor: Why did you originally choose Glassdoor? What's your favourite part about working at the company today?

Liz Hajjar: I loved the idea of Glassdoor from the consumer side, and had a feeling businesses would feel just as good about it.

Marie Sam: I chose Glassdoor because I felt that the company mission was something I could get behind and wanted to be a part of. My favourite part about working for the company outside of reporting to an amazing manager that cares about my growth and development is that we have some of the most dynamic and interesting people I've ever met working here. We also have a complex product that has fulfilled a major void in the market and that's exciting to be a part of!

Glassdoor: How have you grown since you've been at Glassdoor?

Liz Hajjar: In too many ways (but is there ever too many?)! To sum it up, Glassdoor has pushed me, and helped me grow, not only professionally but personally as well, and I am thankful for everything I have learned and how I have grown.

Marie Sam: Undoubtedly, I've grown at Glassdoor. I have been fortunate to have met amazing mentors at GD and I've been challenged to stretch outside of my comfort zone and tackle challenges that I'd never encountered before.

Glassdoor: What are some of the coolest things you've gotten to do since you've been here?

Liz Hajjar: I have been able to watch a business scale in front of my eyes, which is not an opportunity you get every day or even in a lifetime. And it doesn't hurt that along the way, I have had some good laughs with some great co-workers who have really made the journey as great as it has been.

Marie Sam: I've had countless opportunities to do cool new things at Glassdoor, but the move to my current role has been the coolest by far. I work with a great team, have forged solid partnerships interdepartmentally, and I have the best coach that I've encountered in my professional career.
