The micromanaging is worse than I have ever experienced. There is zero flexibility, and the pay is not the best.

There are so many opportunities at The Lab, even after 25 years I’m still discovering new research and mission areas to explore! Great people, salary is competitive, a variety of internal and external continuing education options are supported, and I really appreciate Kim Budil’s leadership style, vision and energy!

There is no perfect w salary/performance management process, but it’s improving! Need more e-vehicle charging stations and remote work hubs around the bay would be good (hear they’re in the works!).

Small fish in a big pond; everybody's an expert in something, which can be intimidating and even overwhelming at times. Navigating the bureaucracy of government science can be cumbersome, especially when dealing with classified or sensitive research.
